Calamity, a fee-to-play MMORPG set in a pixelated fantasy world, is once again calling on players to engage in its latest test phase. Following a successful incentivized test in August, the game is set to reintroduce itself with a new Guild System Playtest. This test enables players to explore new features and earn cryptocurrency rewards including the newly introduced $WYRM token along with $RON rewards.
What is Calamity?
Calamity is an action RPG characterized by its real-time PvE and PvP gameplay and a player-driven economy. Gamers navigate through challenging dungeons at various difficulty levels, upgrade their gear, and build powerful characters to suit diverse playstyles. Having conducted multiple playtests this year, the game continues to offer significant rewards for participation.
New Features in the Guild System Playtest
The latest feature, the Guild System, offers a fresh dynamic to Calamity’s play structure. It introduces mechanisms such as Scholarships and Sponsors, aimed at making the game more accessible and providing players a “play to earn” model. Players can join or create Guilds for free, with each Guild accommodating up to 75 members. These Guilds include features like a Treasury for in-game currency (Gold) deposits and a leader management system where leaders and officers manage resources to benefit their scholars.
Essentially, depositing Gold into a Guild’s Treasury turns a member into a Sponsor, enabling them to earn returns based on the Gold earned by the scholars they support. This system removes the need for direct management of resources by Sponsors, as Guild Leaders will handle the allocations.
The Guild Leaderboard is an additional feature tracking the performance in dungeon raids. High-performing Guilds will have the chance to win substantial $WYRM token rewards.
Playtest Rewards and Participation
For this Guild System Playtest, a total of 3 million $WYRM tokens are allocated across various leaderboards:
- Valor (Solo) – 1,000,000 $WYRM for the top 185 players,
- Guilds – 1,225,000 $WYRM for the top 5 Guilds,
- Fame (Referrals) – 450,000 $WYRM for the top 60 referrers,
- Sponsors (Scholarships) – 325,000 $WYRM for the top 40 sponsors.
Additionally, the Wyrm Tribute prize pool starts with a seeded amount of 2000 $RON / 1 million Gold, previously seen in the use of USDC. This pool can increase through player purchases.
How to Participate
Players can join in from September 30, 10 AM UTC, to October 3, 1 PM UTC. Becoming a scholar requires joining a Guild that provides a Season Pass and time to share profits from gameplay, or players can buy a Season Pass for 2000 Gold directly in-game, a feature newly implemented for player convenience. The more participants and purchases during this session, the larger the $RON reward pool will grow. The playtest will also offer opportunities to buy Factory NFTs using in-game Gold, adding extra layers of engagement and potential earnings.
