First Competitive Tournament Announced
CCP Games has unveiled plans for its inaugural EVE Frontier Winter Classic PVP Tournament. Slated for December 6 and 7, the event marks a significant development in the realm of live multiplayer engagements within the web3 sphere. This platform will host teams in a tactical 5v5 double-elimination contest, emphasized on skill and strategic finesse.
Tournament Mechanics and Structure
The Winter Classic will be held on the game’s live server known as Stillness, specifically within the bounds of the Exclave Accelerator Facility. In this controlled environment, teams will navigate a compact 50-kilometer space, with boundaries that destroy any ship straying too far. Each 10-minute match will challenge teams to optimize their ships’ setup under a strict point-based system, aiming to maximize their 50-point allowance effectively. Exceeding game frames will escalate to two, four, and eventually six times the normal speed to break any persisting ties, with a final disruptive intervention by Sarana-class feral drones if needed.
Prizes and Strategic Planning
The victors of the Winter Classic can look forward to substantial rewards. The top team will earn five tickets to EVE Fanfest 2026 and a 10,000 Grace split among its members. Following closely are rewards for the second and third place, all contributing to a competitive atmosphere. Grace, the in-game temporary currency, converts to EVE Points at the end of each Cycle, potentially leading to further in-game advantages.
Engagement Beyond the Game
Alongside this highly anticipated tournament, CCP Games is also encouraging broader community engagement through a social media contest. Participants are tasked with creating original content to promote the Winter Classic, with leading entries recognized and rewarded with Grace. This parallel contest runs from November 10 through November 24 and synchronizes with the tournament’s signup period.
Guidelines for Participation
Interested players have until November 24 to register their teams, which can include five to ten players, allowing for substitutions. All communication and coordination for the tournament are channeled through designated team captains. Upon closing registrations, a comprehensive schedule will lay down the detailed timeline for matches commencing on December 6.
EVE Frontier: A Distinct Gameplay Experience
EVE Frontier distinguishes itself within the EVE universe through its focus on survival and civilization rebuilding within a web3 framework. Every Cycle introduces new challenges and technologies, emphasizing player impact and creativity. The introduction of the Winter Classic PVP Tournament is a step towards blending this innovative sandbox setup with the spirit of competitive play, inviting players to demonstrate their tactical acumen in a live setting.
