In Brief:
- End of the Line: Singapore-based Wearemighty shuts down its web3 projects including the platform GOAT Gaming.
- Asset Conversion: Users have until February 16 to convert their in-game assets into Gifts.Fun gems, usable until March 2.
- Refunds Offered: Alpha Goat NFT purchasers eligible for refunds through a process active until February 16.
Singapore’s gaming studio Wearemighty has announced the closure of all its active web3 gaming products, which impacts their popular platforms like GOAT Gaming and other associated projects such as Alpha Goats, Amy Bot, and the Telegram-based gacha rewards platform, Gifts.Fun.
A Brief History of Wearemighty
Originally known as Mighty Bear Games, the studio initially made a splash in late 2022 with their “Mighty Action Heroes,” a battle royale game tied to their MightyNet genesis NFTs. With a dynamic approach to the evolving digital asset landscape, they transitioned from the Polygon blockchain to Treasure, and, by 2024, pivoted to transforming “Mighty Action Heroes” into an asymmetric rewards platform on Telegram known as GOAT Gaming. This pivot also saw the launch of similar platforms such as Waifu Clash and introduced AI-centric Alpha Goat NFTs, which autonomously earned token rewards for their holders.
Despite these innovative steps, the downturn in sentiment around gaming tokens proved challenging. The launch of GOAT Gaming’s GG token was indefinitely postponed and later canceled, prompting a shift in focus towards their Gifts.Fun platform.
Conversion and Refund Deadlines
The closure notice comes with important deadlines for users and investors. GOAT Gaming users have until February 16 to convert their existing in-game assets into Gifts.Fun gems. These gems will remain usable until March 2. Additionally, there is a refund mechanism in place for purchasers of Alpha Goat NFTs, available until February 16 as well.
Uncertain Future for Wearemighty
While the gaming platforms will no longer operate, what lies ahead for Wearemighty remains uncertain. The announcement did not clarify if the company would cease operations entirely or if it might steer its focus towards AI-centric gaming, independent of blockchain technology.
This shutdown marks a significant shift in the landscape of web3 gaming, reflecting the challenges companies face in this highly volatile market segment. For users impacted by the shutdown, timely action is required to ensure asset conversion and refund collection before the set deadlines.
