Moca Network has recently unveiled its forthcoming event, the Proof of Build hackathon, scheduled to occur in the last days of September 2025. This online global challenge will attract founders, developers, designers, and product visionaries worldwide to innovate on the theme of decentralized identity solutions. Concluding with a live demonstration in Singapore, the event aligns with Token2049—one of the most significant global conferences in the web3 realm.
Participants in Proof of Build will engage in a structured yet intense competition, starting with online onboarding, followed by several days of hacking backed by mentoring and regular check-ins. The effort extends into a final presentation day where selected teams will present live. The aim is to transform the theoretical aspects of onchain identity into tangible, usable developer tools and user applications.
At the heart of the hackathon is the challenge to utilize Moca Network’s Open Identity Stack on the newly announced Moca Chain to create practical web3 identity technology solutions. The hackathon supports Moca Network’s mission to further practical uses of decentralized digital identity, moving away from traditional and centralized Single Sign-On (SSO) systems, which often compromise privacy and data control.
Moca Network, a division of Animoca Brands focused on digital identity, supports over 570 companies with the potential to reach more than 700 million users. Its tools have been implemented in mainstream platforms such as SK Planet’s OK Cashbag and One Football, highlighting the widespread application and impact of its technologies.
Central to these advancements is the Moca Chain, introduced by the Moca Foundation, designed specifically for managing digital identities and user data autonomously. This Layer 1 blockchain, which is EVM-compatible and modular, underpins the Proof of Build platform. The chain uses a blend of technologies like zero-knowledge proofs and decentralized storage to ensure data privacy and verification.
Supplementing the Moca Chain is the AIR Kit SDK, which enables developers and apps to integrate verified data and digital identity seamlessly. Kenneth Shek, project lead at Moca Network, stated that “the combination of Moca Chain and AIR Kit is unique,” offering a new structural approach to data sharing that prioritizes privacy and control.
