The team behind Valiants: Arena, the competitive Web3 strategy game developed by Vortrius, has announced that the project is being paused due to financial and market challenges. In a message to the community, the developers thanked players for their continued support and explained the difficult decision to halt development after months of effort to secure new funding and partnerships.
According to the announcement, the team had been actively working to sustain the game’s development. They rebuilt gameplay systems, refined their product pitch, and held extensive talks with venture capital firms, private investors, ecosystem funds, and exchanges. Despite progress in these discussions, the studio said that the current Web3 gaming market made it impossible to extend its operational funding in a sustainable way.
Creating an original intellectual property at the quality level Valiants: Arena aimed for proved to be costly. Even with a small team, the core elements such as art, engineering, security, and community management added up to significant expenses. The developers noted that although players were engaged and supportive, the game’s current player base was not large enough to offset ongoing operational costs.
As a result, Valiants: Arena is now paused, and the planned $VGN token launch under its original framework has been cancelled. The team will try to keep the servers online for as long as possible, allowing players to continue enjoying the game while it remains active.
Despite the setback, Vortrius emphasized that the studio is not shutting down. The developers plan to continue building, focusing on smaller projects with shorter development cycles and more manageable scopes. They expressed hope that future concepts could still carry forward the creative vision behind Valiants: Arena.
The team also thanked the community for its dedication and involvement, from bug reports and memes to game nights and testing feedback. They acknowledged the emotional weight of the decision and reaffirmed their belief in the long-term potential of Web3 gaming, even during difficult market conditions.
Vortrius will continue communicating with players through Discord and Telegram for updates and open discussions. The team also invited potential partners and collaborators to reach out if they share a belief in the studio’s mission.
