Torque Drift 2 is a skill-driven motorsport game about drifting, set in a fictional modern-day Japanese city — Japan being, as the studio puts it, the birthplace of the discipline. It is playable on Steam and the Epic Games Store, and the emphasis throughout is on driving skill rather than on progression unlocks.
The game runs true-to-life physics with sim rig support, so a wheel-and-pedals setup is a first-class way to play rather than an afterthought. Cars are fully licensed from real manufacturers, including Nissan, Mazda, Subaru, Ford and Honda, and customisation uses authentic parts from more than sixty real-world brands such as Liberty Walk and Rotiform. Tracks are detailed to match, and competitive play sits on top of the same physics everyone practises against.
Torque Drift 2 ships with native mod support and an official Modkit, which is why its community can extend the car and track list themselves — an unusual amount of openness for a game with this many licences attached. The developers publish release notes for every update on their own newsroom, and the game belongs to a wider Torque Motorsport line that also runs a physical store. The project describes itself as community-driven games for motorsport fans, and the mod tooling backs that up.
Torque Drift 2 is a drift-focused racing game from Grease Monkey Games, a studio under Animoca Brands, built around the culture of controlled slides rather than lap times — the Tokyo street scene on one side, sponsored professional drift competition on the other. It runs on Polygon and carries multiplayer and NFT car components, though the studio has consistently framed the Web3 layer as optional alongside a conventional version of the game.
What works in its favour is provenance and focus. A dedicated drift simulator is a narrower, more defensible pitch than the general-purpose racers that dominate this category, and Grease Monkey has a track record in motorsport games rather than in crypto tooling. The dual Web2/Web3 positioning also means the driving has to hold up on its own terms.
The caution is timing. The game entered Early Access on PC with a full launch and console versions promised for a window that has since passed, so anyone reading current marketing should check the live build against what is advertised. There is also nothing here about how the Polygon assets affect on-track performance — a question that decides whether the economy is cosmetic or competitive.
It suits players who genuinely care about drift physics and are willing to sit through an in-progress release. Anyone wanting a finished arcade racer, or a straightforward earning loop, is better served elsewhere.
