In Brief
- Soccerverse has signed a licensing agreement with FIFPRO, giving the game rights to use the names and images of more than 65,000 real-world football players.
- The license spans over 70 national player unions, covering major football nations including England, Italy, France, Argentina and Portugal.
- The integration brings a major authenticity upgrade to Soccerverse, enhancing player management, trading and the game’s decentralized football economy.
Soccerverse, the community-driven football management and trading game built on Polygon, has signed an agreement with FIFPRO to bring officially licensed professional football players into its ecosystem. The deal grants the game the rights to feature the names and images of more than 65,000 real players, marking a major milestone for authenticity and global relevance.
A Worldwide License for Real-World Footballers
The agreement covers players from more than 70 FIFPRO-affiliated national unions, representing some of football’s biggest markets, including England, France, Italy, Argentina, Portugal, Belgium, Scotland, Norway and Sweden.
For Soccerverse, the introduction of officially licensed players elevates both the realism and strategic depth of the experience. Managers can build squads, trade footballers and develop long-term strategies using real athletes whose names and likenesses are recognised worldwide.
Enhancing Trust and Immersion
One of the recurring challenges for blockchain games has been the lack of licensed content. By integrating real players, Soccerverse bridges that gap and introduces a level of authenticity rarely seen in decentralized sports management titles.
The rollout of licensed players will begin in the coming weeks, giving managers new tools as they shape their clubs, compete in the game’s dynamic economy and interact with a world that mirrors real football more closely than ever.
A Landmark Partnership
Andrew Gore, CEO of Soccerverse, described the licensing deal as a “landmark moment” for the game and for its community. He emphasised that authenticity is central to the project’s vision and that the partnership supports FIFPRO’s mission by giving visibility to players from both major and under-represented football nations.
FIFPRO Commercial Enterprises welcomed Soccerverse into its network, noting that the game’s community-driven structure aligns with their vision for innovative digital experiences where fans can play active roles in shaping virtual clubs and ecosystems.
