In Brief
- Enjin will release its Sentosa blockchain upgrade on December 8, 2025, across the Relaychain and Matrixchain networks.
- The update adds Coretime scheduling, Hyperbridge functions, asset conversion tools, fuel tank improvements, and automated off-chain processes.
- The testnet version became available in late October, allowing developers to prepare for the mainnet rollout.
Enjin has announced that its Sentosa upgrade will go live on December 8, 2025. The update applies to both parts of the Enjin network, the Relaychain and the Matrixchain, and is designed to modernise performance, improve automation, and expand the tools available to developers and users.
Relaychain improvements
The Relaychain will adopt Coretime scheduling, which changes how system resources are allocated. The destruction period for nomination pools will drop from fifty-six days to twenty-eight days. Bonus cycles for nomination pools will be removed to simplify staking.
The upgrade also introduces off-chain workers that will handle tasks such as validator reward payouts and cleaning up expired marketplace listings. This reduces workload on the chain and aims to improve overall efficiency.
Matrixchain enhancements
The Matrixchain update includes the addition of a Hyperbridge pallet to support cross-chain asset movement. A new asset conversion pallet will function as a decentralized exchange tool, providing users with a direct method to convert tokens within the network.
Fuel tank behaviour will change, allowing accounts to operate without an existential deposit. Expired tanks can now be destroyed, which helps keep the network cleaner.
The marketplace will receive an auction bid extension feature that increases fairness by resetting the countdown when a bid arrives close to the deadline.
Why the upgrade matters
Sentosa is designed to strengthen Enjin’s broader Web3 ecosystem. The new modules aim to streamline asset management, reduce friction for game developers, and introduce more flexibility for token movement. Automation through off-chain workers is expected to make the network more responsive, while marketplace improvements may benefit both creators and collectors.
What users should prepare for
Node operators and developers will need to update their systems to match the new Relaychain and Matrixchain versions. Short periods of transaction rejection may take place during the upgrade window. Developers who rely on staking, scheduling, or marketplace modules should review their integrations to ensure compatibility with the updated behaviour.
