- The full-scale migration of the Off The Grid game to the Gunz mainnet for EU PC players is set to begin, after previously moving only 21,000 early adopters.
- Gunzilla’s GUN cryptocurrency has been approved as a utility token under the EU’s new MiCAR regulations.
- The Gunz mainnet has seen over 62,498 unique wallets and 7.7 million NFTs minted to date, with total NFTs traded worth over $285,000 on OpenSea.
Following the official recognition of Gunzilla’s GUN cryptocurrency as a utility token under the MiCAR (Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation) framework, EU PC players are now being transitioned to the Gunz mainnet as Off The Grid expands its digital frontier. This transition began only after securing MiCAR compliance at the end of August.
Previously, only a select group of 21,000 early adopters were moved to the mainnet. Starting this week, the migration will encompass a broader base of players across Europe, starting specifically with those playing the PC version through platforms like Epic Games Store and Steam. At the game’s peak, there were about 13,000 concurrent players on Steam alone.
The CEO of Gunzilla, Vlad Korolov, emphasized the significance of this regulatory milestone. “Achieving MiCAR compliance is more than a regulatory milestone — it’s a defining moment for Gunzilla and the GUNZ ecosystem,” he stated. Korolov added, “By becoming the first gaming token approved under the EU’s new framework, we’ve not only secured regulatory clarity but also set a precedent for how web3 and gaming can thrive together in a compliant environment.”
He further underscored the transformative impact of the approval, “This approval paves the way for millions of players and partners across Europe to engage with GUN as a true utility token at the heart of our ecosystem. It’s a major step toward realizing our vision of building the premier web3-native, AAA gaming chain.”
Off The Grid, which was previously launched on platforms such as Xbox and PlayStation in October 2024, still awaits migration for a much larger segment of players. This process will commence once necessary approvals from Sony and Microsoft are obtained, as these players currently operate on the Gunz testnet.
With the mainnet now serving 62,498 unique wallets and facilitating the creation of 7.7 million NFTs, the scale of Gunzilla’s undertaking becomes evident. These NFTs have exchanged hands to the tune of over $285,000-worth through the marketplace OpenSea. Moreover, the daily active unique wallets interacting on the Gunz mainnet number around 3,000, reflecting a steadily growing engagement within this gaming ecosystem.
The migration represents a significant step in blending gaming with blockchain technology, showcasing a potent case of regulatory adaptation enabling newer business models within the European Union.
