In Brief
Open Loot will narrow its portfolio to focus on fewer, deeper partnerships and more internal development.
Players who made primary purchases in Open Loot titles (besides Big Time) will receive $2,914,692 in discount credits that can be used toward future Big Time purchases.
Some partner projects (e.g. Boss Fighters, Shatterpoint, The Desolation, Kokodi) will leave the Open Loot platform, with exit paths and asset withdrawal options provided.
Open Loot has announced a strategic shift. After years of broad support to many studios, the company says it will now pursue “fewer, more strategic partnerships” and lean more heavily on its own internal game development.
This change follows both success and struggle. While Big Time has become a standout Web3 title—with over $467 million in rewards granted, 4.3 million hours of gameplay in the past year, and 7.8 million items crafted—other partner projects failed to launch or lost momentum. Open Loot frames these outcomes not as failures but as lessons from a young and volatile industry.
To reward long-time supporters, Open Loot is introducing a discount credit program. Players who made primary purchases (outside of Big Time) between August 24, 2023, and September 22, 2025, will receive credits totaling $2,914,692. These credits can offset up to 25 percent of any future primary purchase paid with the Open Loot token ($OL) in Big Time. For example, spending $10,000 on earlier titles would translate into $2,500 in credit. New games released by Open Loot will also join this program.
The company also confirmed that existing Big Time NFTs will gain additional value and utility in future titles, ensuring that early support still matters in upcoming projects.
As part of the refocus, some partner games will depart the Open Loot ecosystem. Studios such as Boss Fighters, Shatterpoint, The Desolation, and Kokodi are affected. Each studio will communicate its own transition plan to its community. Players will retain the ability to withdraw assets, and where feasible, migration paths will be offered.
Looking ahead, Open Loot says it will support two internal projects: a mobile pet-collecting adventure set inside the Big Time world, and a high-stakes strategy game for mobile and browser platforms. Additional titles are in development as well.
Open Loot describes this next chapter as one of focus and sustainability. The goal is to deliver games and a platform built to last. The company acknowledge past ups and downs, thank the community for its patience, and commit to building a stronger Web3 gaming ecosystem.
