In Brief
- Pixiland has announced an indefinite pause of its Web3 features and a full transition to a Web2 model.
- Token plans and crypto payments are canceled, with in game currencies converted to a non withdrawable format.
- The game will remain online as a Web2 experience with limited ongoing support.
Pixiland has announced a major shift in direction, confirming that its Web3 operations will be paused indefinitely as the game transitions to a fully offchain Web2 model. The decision comes after nearly two years of development and live operations by a small, independently funded team.
The Pixiland team said that continued market volatility, growing regulatory and compliance pressure, and limited remaining resources made it increasingly difficult to sustain the Web3 model over the long term. To keep the game running in the most stable way possible, the team opted to remove blockchain components entirely rather than shut the project down.
Web3 Features Paused Indefinitely
Under the new plan, Pixiland will no longer support Web3 functionality. There will be no token generation event and no plans to list a token. All cryptocurrency based purchases and payment gateways are being disabled, and no new Web3 features will be developed going forward.
The team confirmed that wPixi balances will be automatically converted into the existing in game currency GEM at a fixed ratio of ten to one. GEM has no cash value, cannot be withdrawn, and cannot be converted into any token. It will function purely as an in game currency within the Web2 version of Pixiland.
NFT Handling and One Time Claims
Players will be able to withdraw their NFTs back to their own wallets, as Pixiland does not custody user NFTs. NFT related benefits will be handled through a one time manual claim process, generating a one to one offchain copy of each NFT inside the game.
Once this claim period ends, onchain interactions such as NFT deposits, minting, and mapping will no longer be available.
Transition Timeline
The transition begins immediately following the announcement. Web3 development has stopped, the in game shop has been disabled, and all crypto payments are no longer supported. Neighborhood features have been turned off, with any remaining rewards credited directly to player balances. All land related services now use GEM instead of cryptocurrencies.
By early February, Pixiland will update fully to its Web2 version, activate the one time NFT claim process, and complete the automatic conversion of all wPixi balances into GEM. By early March, the dashboard service will be shut down, ending all remaining token and NFT management tools.
Ongoing Support as a Web2 Game
Pixiland will continue operating as a Web2 only game. During this phase, the team says its focus will be on maintaining server stability and addressing critical issues if they arise. Due to limited operational capacity, no major new content updates are planned.
The team closed its announcement by thanking players, supporters, and community members for their continued trust and participation, expressing hope that Pixiland can remain an enjoyable experience despite the change in direction.
