Unite’s Closed Beta Testnet Rollout
Unite has announced the launch of its Closed Beta Testnet, an initial phase intended to fine-tune its system which integrates gamer identity and actions within games into two types of digital tokens. This phase will remain exclusive to pre-approved, whitelisted players who will engage in gameplay to provide necessary feedback for system improvements.
The Scope of Unite’s Platform
Unite is developing a web3 protocol designed to capture and tokenize every aspect of a gamer’s activity into what it calls Gamer Coins and Play Coins. These tokens encapsulate elements such as identity, achievement records, and time spent in various games. The goal is to transform the conventional gameplay into a quantifiable and ownable asset that transcends individual gaming platforms.
Gamer Coin serves as a digital representation of a player’s identity, with each player having the ability to mint one Gamer Coin. The total supply is capped at 1 billion coins, with a distribution model that splits the coins between the games played and a five-year vesting period for the player.
On the other hand, Play Coins are minted to provide proof of gameplay within specific titles, with a similar cap on total supply. Each supported game allows players to mint their own Play Coins, rewarding them with an initial 10% of the coins, with the remainder accruing based on time spent in-game, capped at eight hours of mining per day.
Interactivity and Testing in the Beta Phase
The Closed Beta permits participants to engage with a variety of games, tracking their interactions via a web interface for online games or a client for Windows-based games. High-profile games such as Dota 2, Counter-Strike 2, and Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced are part of the supported list. As players engage with these games, they generate Play Coins, enhancing their digital Gamer Coin profile.
Additionally, participants in the Closed Beta can mint Gamer Coins by registering their digital identity, linking it to their gameplay in supported titles. This identity linkage allows them to start accumulating Play Coins which essentially documents their in-game actions and achievements.
How to Participate in the Closed Beta
Enthusiasts looking to join the Closed Beta need to fill out an official whitelist application. Upon approval, they’ll receive a confirmation email granting access to the testnet. Using an EVM-compatible wallet, players can sign into the test environment, mint their Gamer Coin and commence the gameplay that collects Play Coins.
During the testing phase, players also have the opportunity to claim testnet UNITE tokens, necessary for various transactions within the platform, from the Unite Faucet available in the Beta dashboard.
