Yuga Labs is set to open the virtual doors of its Otherside metaverse on November 12, marking a significant milestone in the platform’s development. This initial release will center around the Koda Nexus, envisioned as a social hub and the foundational setting within Otherside. The nexus is planned to gradually evolve, incorporating new games and locales to enrich the user experience.
User Accessibility and Engagement
One of the notable facets of the Koda Nexus launch is its inclusive access. Users will not need digital wallets or NFTs simply to enter the nexus, though possessing an Otherside land NFT allows for enhanced integration and benefits, such as connection to the Nexus and activation of Koda characters. This rollout also initiates the metaverse’s resource generation system, promising further developments in subsequent seasons.
Collaborations and New Content
Coinciding with the metaverse opening, Yuga Labs is introducing new avatars to enhance user personalization options. In collaboration with Amazon Gaming, the Boximus avatar will debut on October 30. Adding to the exclusivity, Daniel Arsham, Otherside’s lead designer, is set to release a limited edition of 300 avatars, adding a collectible layer to the platform’s offerings.
Support for Third-Party Creators
Furthering its commitment to a dynamic and creator-friendly platform, Yuga Labs is promoting the Otherside Development Kit (ODK). This toolkit assists third-party developers in crafting unique experiences within the Otherside ecosystem. Already, it has facilitated the creation of diverse game modes such as the 8v8 shooter “Bathroom Blitz” and a zombie-themed “Outbreak.”
