The Sandbox is preparing a special CATALYST claim event exclusively for LAND owners. This new distribution aims to give more utility and value to owning LAND in the Sandbox ecosystem.
What Are CATALYSTs?
CATALYSTs are key elements within The Sandbox that influence the rarity and power of assets created and minted in the world. In short, they help determine how scarce and premium a creation can be — and the more coveted the asset, the more value it holds on the marketplace.
Who Will Be Eligible?
To qualify for the claim, LAND owners must meet the following conditions at the time of a snapshot on October 17:
- They must own one or more LAND plots.
- They must have a valid Sandbox account.
- They must complete KYC verification.
The claim will occur within about three weeks after the snapshot. Once the claim is active, eligible users can access it through their account’s claim page. Claims remain open for three months from the date they are announced.
How the Claim Works
The amount of CATALYSTs awarded depends on a points system that considers both LAND ownership and content creation:
- Standard LAND counts for 1 point
- Premium LAND counts for 3 points
- LAND with a published Experience boosts value:
• Standard LAND + Experience = 5 points
• Premium LAND + Experience = 10 points
Bonuses are also applied for owning multiple LAND parcels and for publishing Experiences (interactive content built inside a plot). These factors help determine a user’s final allocation tier.
What You Can Do with CATALYSTs
Once claimed, CATALYSTs unlock creative potential. They’re used to mint assets created in VoxEdit, allowing creators to choose how many editions to issue and at what rarity. After minting, users can list their assets on The Sandbox Marketplace and earn from their digital creations.
What to Do If You’re a LAND Owner
If you already hold LAND:
- Create or log in to your Sandbox account.
- Complete KYC verification if you haven’t yet.
- Consider publishing an Experience to increase your points.
- Wait for the snapshot and claim your allocation when it becomes available.
