How we decide if a crypto game is gone, silent or live

CryptoGames.gg tracks every blockchain game it can find, 4,299 entries in October 2026, and says for each one whether it is still running. This page explains what we check, so anyone can test a verdict.

What counts as a game

A playable title. Studios, publishers, platforms, launchers, chains, tokens, guilds, DAOs and gambling products are not counted as games; studios have their own developer pages. Duplicate listings of the same game are merged into one.

Three states, not two

  • Live needs at least one current, checkable sign of life: ranked player activity, a trading token, a store release or update, official news or patch notes, a current season or event.
  • Silent means the website still answers, but none of those signals can be dated within the last twelve months. A silent game is not called dead; it is shown as inactive, with the reason.
  • Gone needs hard evidence about the game itself: its domain no longer resolves, the site stays unreachable across repeated checks, the domain is parked, for sale or serves an unrelated business, the developers announced the end, or the last dated sign of life is more than a year old.

Every game page shows its state and the reason for it.

What we check

  • The official website and domain: does it answer, and is it still the game’s site?
  • App stores and Steam: App Store and Google Play update dates, Steam releases and news.
  • Official channels: the game’s blog, patch notes, announcements, Telegram, X and Discord.
  • Player activity: rank and reported players on public play-to-earn trackers.
  • The token: whether it still trades, its price and market cap.
  • Events: tournaments, seasons and launches, scheduled or recent.

A mention in the press, including on our own sites, is never enough on its own: a game stays live only when the game itself shows a dated sign of activity.

How often

Live and undecided games are re-checked every 15 days. Gone games are checked again when their site starts answering; in October 2026, 11 of 245 such games came back as live. Scores (0–100) are recomputed daily from verifiable signals, market data and community votes, and only mean something for live games.

Dead games stay listed

A gone or silent game is labelled, sinks to the bottom of every list and is kept out of search engines, but it is never deleted. The graveyard is part of the record: it is how a player checks a game before putting time or money into it.

Chains, genres and limits

Chains and genres are the ones the project declared or we confirmed; a game can carry several of each. Many older entries declared no genre. Launch dates are missing for most games, so we publish no lifespan figure, and a verdict date records when we checked, not when a game ended.

Corrections

If a game is marked wrongly, use the Suggest an edit button on its page. Every suggestion is reviewed, and the verdict is checked again against a dated source before it changes. Studios can write to [email protected].
