About Chainlink VRF
Chainlink VRF is a verifiable random function service that gives smart contracts random numbers. Each result comes with a cryptographic proof that is checked on-chain before the value is used. It is one of the products of Chainlink Labs, which the Chainlink site describes as the standard oracle platform connecting blockchains to data. Game contracts can use it for outcomes such as loot drops or card shuffles that players must not be able to predict or rig. The VRF docs list version 2.5 as the current release.
