Revolving Games
What is Revolving Games?
Revolving Games is a development studio rather than a single title, and it is one of the few Web3 teams to have been handed a major entertainment licence. Its headline project is a Battlestar Galactica game built in collaboration with Gala Games and with Universal, the IP holder — a 4X massively multiplayer strategy game set forty years after the first Cylon war, in which humanity is scattered across the galaxy and players fight to reclaim the twelve colonies. That framing matters because 4X strategy, with its emphasis on territory, production and long campaigns, maps unusually well onto persistent on-chain ownership. The studio positions itself as building technology for next-generation gaming experiences rather than as a crypto project that happens to make games.
How to play Revolving Games titles
There is no single Revolving Games client to install; you play whichever of its titles has reached release. For the Battlestar Galactica game, the expected shape is a 4X strategy campaign: explore the galaxy, expand your holdings, exploit resources and exterminate rivals, played against other people over a long horizon rather than in short matches. Distribution runs through Gala Games' platform, which handles accounts and the on-chain layer, so players deal with Gala's infrastructure rather than with a bespoke wallet flow. Because release timing on licensed projects moves, the studio's own channels and Gala's platform are where to check what is actually playable today.
Revolving Games tokenomics & earning
Revolving Games does not run a player-facing token of its own; the economics of its flagship sit inside Gala Games' ecosystem, where GALA is the settlement asset and in-game items are held as NFTs. For a player that means the earning model is Gala's rather than the studio's — node and item ownership, secondary trading of assets you win or buy, and whatever reward programmes the platform runs, rather than a per-session payout from Revolving Games. It is also worth noting that a licensed property imposes constraints a crypto-native game does not have, so the on-chain layer here is deliberately conservative. Check Gala's documentation for the terms that actually apply.

Our verdict on Revolving Games
Revolving Games is a studio rather than a game you can pick up and play. It launched in 2020 as a mobile free-to-play company, was founded by three brothers — Saad, Ammar and Shayan Zaeem — and now runs two studios with more than a hundred people across North America, Europe and Asia. Its named project is a blockchain game based on the Battlestar Galactica licence, which is the detail worth knowing, because a recognisable science-fiction property is a far stronger signal of intent than a generic space framing.
What works here is that focus. The Battlestar Galactica game is a 4X strategy MMO made with Gala Games and licensed through NBCUniversal, so the studio answers to a rights holder — which usually means production standards and a fixed fictional world instead of an open-ended promise. The money behind it is unusually specific too: around $25 million raised from Pantera Capital, Animoca Brands, Polygon, Dapper Labs and others, with Rockstar Games co-founder Dan Houser both investing and advising. A second title, Skyborne Legacy, a social exploration and trading RPG, is being built for Polygon.
What does not work is that none of this is something you can play. A licensed 4X MMO is a long build, the Battlestar project sits inside Gala's platform rather than standing alone, and a studio with two announced games and a large raise is still a studio with two announced games. Anyone weighing an asset purchase is buying into a roadmap, and the two titles point at different networks, so "which chain" depends on which game you mean.
This is one for people tracking Battlestar Galactica or studio-level crypto gaming news, not for anyone looking for something to play now.
