Following the launch of the ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X, Xbox president Sarah Bond gave a new interview to Variety, revealing fresh details about the future of the Xbox platform.
Speaking about the recently released handhelds, which launched on October 16, Bond confirmed once again that the next-generation Xbox console is currently in development. She emphasized that the company is “working tirelessly” to deliver the next evolution of Xbox, once again in partnership with AMD.
“We’re 100% focused on building for the future,” Bond said.
She went on to clarify that the next-generation Xbox hardware is already in the prototype and design phase.
“Right now, we have our new generation of hardware under development. We’ve already entered the prototype and design stage. We’ve announced our partnership with AMD — so yes, it’s coming!”
Bond added that the collaboration with ASUS on the ROG Xbox Ally handheld line was a way for Microsoft to innovate in new directions, offering gamers more options beyond traditional consoles.
“This was an opportunity to innovate differently and give players another choice alongside next-gen hardware. We always listen to what gamers and creators want. When there’s a demand for innovation, we’ll deliver it.”
Just ten days ago, Microsoft publicly denied rumors claiming it was planning to move away from home consoles altogether. On the contrary, the company not only reaffirmed its commitment to console gaming but confirmed that the next Xbox generation is already in active development and currently in the prototype stage.
According to circulating reports, the new Xbox could launch as early as 2027.
