What is Illuvium?
Illuvium is a franchise of interconnected blockchain games from Illuvium Labs, built around a shared sci-fi setting and a roster of collectible creatures called Illuvials. Rather than one client, it spans four titles: Illuvium: Arena, a competitive auto-battler; Illuvium: Overworld, a 3D exploration and creature-capture game; Illuvium: Zero, a base-building companion game for desktop and mobile; and Illuvium: Beyond, a collectible experience centred on hand-drawn Illuvial portraits called Illuvitars. In-game assets are issued as NFTs on Immutable — originally Immutable X, and on Immutable zkEVM after the 2024 migration — while the ILV token is an ERC-20 on Ethereum.
How to play Illuvium
The PC games are distributed through the Epic Games Store, with a single installer covering Overworld and Arena and a separate download for Zero. Players sign in with an Immutable Passport, which doubles as a wallet for tokens and NFTs. Progress is designed to cross over between titles: Fuel produced in Zero unlocks higher-tier Overworld zones, and Illuvials acquired in Overworld — currently through automated drone runs — carry their stats and boosts into Arena matches. As of mid-2026, Arena is the actively updated flagship, receiving frequent balance patches and modes such as Deathmatch, while Overworld has been taken offline and returned to development as the team rebuilds it into an MMO.
Illuvium tokenomics & earning
ILV serves as a governance token through the Illuvinati Council, as a marketplace currency, and as a staking asset; sILV2 is the in-game variant, spendable on purchases inside the ecosystem rather than used for yield. Illuvials, land and Illuvitars trade as NFTs on the project's own marketplace, the IlluviDEX. Returns depend on asset prices and competitive results, and are not guaranteed.
Is Illuvium worth playing?
What is live today is one actively maintained competitive game in Arena, collecting in Beyond, and resource management in Zero. The caveat is timing: Overworld is unavailable while it is rebuilt, and Zero receives only minor updates while resources go to the MMO, so the full interconnected loop the project describes is not yet playable end to end.
Our verdict
Illuvium is less a single game than a four-part franchise sharing one sci-fi setting and one roster of collectible creatures, the Illuvials. Arena is a competitive auto-battler, Overworld a 3D exploration and creature-capture game, Zero a base-builder, and Beyond a portrait-collecting layer. The pieces are designed to feed one another — Fuel produced in Zero unlocks higher-tier Overworld zones, Illuvials acquired in Overworld carry their stats into Arena matches — and that interlock, not the token, is the genuinely interesting idea here.
What works: Arena is a real competitive game receiving frequent balance patches and new modes, and getting in is unusually painless for a blockchain title. The PC games come through the Epic Games Store and sign-in runs on an Immutable Passport that quietly doubles as the wallet, so the crypto layer stays out of the way at the door.
What does not: the chain that justifies the whole design is broken at present. Overworld has been taken offline and returned to development as the team rebuilds it into an MMO, and Zero receives only minor updates while resources go there. Illuvials are currently obtained through automated drone runs rather than the exploration the pitch describes.
It suits auto-battler players who want ownership of their roster and collectors willing to hold through a rebuild. Anyone here for the connected world should wait.

What does this score mean?
It is an automated check of the token’s smart contract and of who holds it. It answers one question: could someone mint new tokens, block sales, or suddenly dump a large share on the market? It does not rate the game itself, and it is not a professional security review.
How is the number calculated?

Does an unlocked liquidity pool always mean risk?
Only when a DEX is where the token mainly trades. That is where rug pulls happen: the owner pulls the pool and the price collapses.
