Each pet exists as a distinct on-chain token, so ownership sits in your wallet rather than on a company's server — you can sell or transfer a pet without the developer's permission. Around that core the game layers care mechanics (feeding, training) and battles against other players' pets, plus the usual crypto-game promise of earning through play.
What works, at least on paper, is the clarity of the loop: collect, breed, raise, fight, trade. It is a structure that rewards patience and market sense as much as reflexes, and the resource-management side gives the collection something to do beyond sitting in a wallet.
