Anichess Season 9 begins
Anichess has officially launched Season 9: The Circuit, a new structure designed to enhance player engagement through daily competitions. The format features two events every day, allowing players to compete for rewards and standings within a tight timeframe.
New structure and rewards
The Season 9 format introduces Stages, which drive daily rewards and playoff qualifications. Players can also utilize Sanctums for spell experimentation and participate in Special Events that feature unique rules. Winners are determined via daily leaderboards and confirmed after a fair-play review process. Anichess plans to announce confirmed winners on Discord to maintain transparency and uphold integrity.
Event details and timing
Each day consists of two tournament windows: one from 21:00 to 23:00 HKT (13:00 to 15:00 UTC) and another from 09:00 to 11:00 HKT (01:00 to 03:00 UTC). An early access period runs from July 9 to July 12, with official gameplay commencing on July 13. The results from the early access phase will not count towards playoff qualifications.
Scoring and match structure
In the new event format, players earn three points for a win, one point for a draw, and none for a loss. Top finishers on each leaderboard will split a defined payout pool, with the top five receiving 35%, 25%, 18%, 12%, and 10%, respectively. Various Stages offer both free and paid entry options, including Gambit buy-ins ranging from 50 to 100 $CHECK based on the day.
Looking ahead
Players can track their performance through streak flames behind their portraits, which will grow with each win. Further details regarding playoff qualifications will be revealed during the season, ending with a playoff event featuring live-streamed matches.
“This structure opens up exciting new opportunities for competition and player development,” said the Anichess team in their announcement.
