What is Crypto Shots?

Crypto Shots is a browser-based 3D first-person shooter built around play-and-earn mechanics. It was created as the first shoot-to-earn FPS native to the WAX blockchain, with development beginning in October 2021 and the game going live in February 2022. It was later cross-chained to Hive in August 2022, becoming that network's first 3D game, and it is also integrated with Ethereum and Bitcoin Lightning. The game is still in active development, so its content and feature set continue to change.

How to play Crypto Shots

The game runs directly in a web browser and supports both single-player and multiplayer sessions: players can fight AI-controlled bots or face other players in PvP matches. Progression is built on more than 100 in-house-designed NFTs covering characters, weapons, ammunition and reward boosters. Players collect NFT weapon parts and merge them into complete weapons, then extend their capabilities with NFT items and boosters, while characters and skins handle visual customisation. NFT spaceships are used to travel between the game's different environments. A risk-free trial lets newcomers try the shooter before committing to any NFT purchase.

Crypto Shots tokenomics & earning

Earning is centred on the $BOOM token, which players accumulate through achievements and in-game progression. PvP challenges can be contested for tokens as well as HIVE, WAX and BTC rewards. Historically the entry point was the Base Gun NFT — the first Crypto Shots NFT minted on WAX — which unlocked play through the project's Discord bot, B-otto, and allowed pre-mining of $BOOM. The team has reported over 2,000 wallets interacting with the game.

Is Crypto Shots worth playing?

Because it is free to play and runs in the browser, the barrier to trying Crypto Shots is low, and the trial mode means no NFT is required to see the gameplay first-hand. Set expectations accordingly: this is an independently built, still-in-development title rather than a finished release, so content, economy parameters and player counts are subject to change.
