GUNZ weekly transactions climb 14.3% after Off The Grid performance patch

GUNZ said weekly transactions on its network climbed 14.3% following Off The Grid’s performance update, rising from 3.00 million to 3.43 million per week.

The chain has settled 11.77 million transactions since the patch landed, the team said in a report posted Friday to its official account.

“The game runs better. The chain runs busier,” GUNZ said.

What shipped

Gunzilla pushed the update on July 10 as build CL521264. The studio said lower-end PCs picked up as much as 100 extra frames per second in tested scenarios, and CEO Vlad Korolev said the team measured improvements of up to three times the previous frame rate on that hardware.

“Performance was the most important goal for this update, and the results are far beyond a typical optimization pass,” said Vlad Korolev, CEO at Gunzilla Game Studio.

Those gains let the developer formally lower the game’s minimum system requirements. Players who couldn’t hold a competitive frame rate before now sit inside the supported spec.

The patch wasn’t only a technical pass. Gunzilla reworked the core combat loop, overhauling the weapon system for handling, gun feel, feedback and combat variety, and rebalanced the game’s Cyberlimbs. It also added a redesigned “Stay as Squad” endgame flow, a new onboarding tutorial, UI adjustments, world refinements and crash fixes across all supported platforms.

Two smaller builds followed, CL525776 on July 16 and CL530402 on July 24.

The on-chain read

GUNZ publishes a weekly network report, and the numbers moved in the weeks around the patch. For the week of July 8, the network logged five days above 500,000 transactions and a peak of 573,920 on July 13, taking lifetime mainnet transactions past 132.6 million. The prior week, ending July 1, peaked at 542,140 and put the lifetime count above 128.8 million.

Marketplace activity tracked the same direction. GUNZ recorded 389 OpenSea sales between July 3 and July 10, up from 319 in the week ending July 3, when the average sale price was 1,360 GUN. With more than 36 million items in circulation, GUNZ said the floor price is “context, not a signal.”

All of the figures come from GUNZ itself. The chain’s activity is public on its Routescan-hosted explorer, but the before-and-after framing, the 14.3% delta and the 11.77 million settled figure are the team’s own accounting.

Usage up, token flat

The transaction growth hasn’t shown up in the token. GUN went live March 31, 2025, touched roughly $0.115 on its first day and has traded in a $0.02 to $0.03 band through 2026, sitting near $0.027 in February.

That gap between throughput and price has followed the project since mainnet launch, when critics questioned whether the chain was carrying real load or recycling in-game telemetry. Off The Grid writes match outcomes, item transfers and marketplace settlement to the chain, so a patch that keeps more players in more matches mechanically produces more transactions. A faster client on weaker hardware means more concurrent sessions, and more sessions means more writes.

Background

Off The Grid is a free-to-play cyberpunk battle royale from Gunzilla Games, the studio co-founded by Neill Blomkamp, and it’s available in early access on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Player migration to GUNZ mainnet has been staged. Gunzilla moved 21,000 early adopters first, then opened migration to EU-based PC players after GUN was approved as a utility token under the EU’s MiCAR rules in late August 2025. The studio runs a custodial wallet under European CASP Kauri Finance’s license while it pursues its own VASP license from the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority.

Gunzilla said in May, after six years of development, that Off The Grid would exit early access in October 2026 on the game’s two-year anniversary, with updates rolling monthly from June through launch. The July performance pass was the first of them.

“Turns out the chain took it personally,” GUNZ said.
