Modern Warfare 4 Devs Promise to Fix Captain Price After His Botched Haircut Went Viral

Captain Price has been through a lot. Chasing Vladimir Makarov across continents. Barking orders at Task Force 141. Growing a beard that could make even Ghost blush.

What he hasn’t survived is the lowest graphics setting in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4.

Images of Price’s mangled hair went viral out of last weekend’s closed beta, and now Activision and Infinity Ward have promised to fix him.

The screenshots that started it

The beta gave fans plenty to argue about. Time-to-kill speeds. Spawn placements. The usual load-bearing complaints that show up every year like clockwork.

But a separate wing of the fanbase went after something else entirely: Price’s barber.

A handful of images spread across social media showing a version of the character who looks, to put it gently, unwell. No proper hair. No beard. Fans suggested he might want to invest in some hair gel.

“bro….” one post read.

Another: “that ain’t captain Price that’s lieutenant Cost.”

And a third, mercilessly: “That ain’t price that’s amount.”

To a lot of people, he barely reads as the Task Force 141 leader they know.

Why most players never saw it

The screenshots are real. The catch is that Price only looks that way if your device is running the lowest possible settings.

That explains why sightings were few and far between rather than universal. Some fans had already guessed as much.

“What in the 1050 TI is this?” one post said. “Whoever took that screenshot got the game at ultra low, ultra performance, 11% resolution.”

The studio’s response

The studio community team’s X/Twitter account replied to several of the more popular posts, saying the problem would be addressed “in a future update.”

“Hello! We’re aware of an issue with Price’s hair not appearing correctly when viewed at the lowest level of detail. The team will be addressing it in a future update. Ultimately this will not be an issue if players meet our recommended specs,” the account said.

The Modern Warfare 4 Trello board logs it under Known Issues: “Captain Price’s hair does not appear correctly when viewing his character model at the lowest level of detail.”

Price isn’t the only thing on the list

What that update actually includes remains to be seen, and the hair is nowhere near the top of the pile.

Also filed under Known Issues: dropped framerates when cooking lethal weapons, hitches for PC players during their first multiplayer matches, and a stuck loadout screen bug. TTK is being looked into. So are the spawns.

If the closed beta soured you, the open beta launches this weekend and comes with a single-player mission attached. Worth another look.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 releases October 23, 2026, on PC, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X | S. Among the other features Infinity Ward has detailed: players will be able to remove masks for some Operators.

Which means, eventually, a properly rendered Price will have a face and a haircut worth showing off. Just don’t go looking for either at 11% resolution.
