Pokémon Scarlet and Violet’s free Kingambit is yours for 24 more hours

You’ve got one day. That’s it.

The Dark Tera-type Kingambit currently sitting in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet’s raid rotation vanishes on September 3, 2026, and once it’s gone from your save file it’s gone for good. If you’ve been putting off booting up a four-year-old game, this is the excuse.

The 92nd raid is also one of the easiest

This event is the 92nd Tera Raid in the game’s history, which should tell you something about how relentlessly Game Freak has kept feeding these things. It started August 28th, 2026. It features a 7-Star Kingambit with the Dark Tera type, and players who’ve already cleared it have confirmed it’s relatively easy to beat compared to previous Tera Raid battles.

So no, you don’t need a spreadsheet-optimized counter build and three friends on a voice call. You need to show up.

What you actually have to do

Download the latest Poké Portal News first. Skip that step and the raid simply won’t be there. Then challenge the raid boss with friends or other players, beat it, and catch it with any Poké Ball. Any one. The game isn’t going to make you burn a Master Ball on this.

One per save file, so there’s no grinding involved. Do it once and you’re finished.

The Kingambit family is everywhere right now

Running alongside the raid are Mass Outbreaks of Kingambit in the Kitakami region, which you’ll only be able to reach through the Teal Mask DLC. Bisharp and Pawniard are having their own outbreaks over in Paldea. All of those Pokémon are more likely to carry the Charismatic Mark during the event, which is the kind of detail that matters enormously to a specific type of player and not at all to everyone else. You know which one you are.

A long goodbye that hasn’t quite ended

Scarlet and Violet launched back in 2022 and players are still logging in for events. The pace is going to slow down eventually, and the arrival of Winds and Waves is the reason why. It feels like we’ve been predicting that slowdown for a while now, and yet here we are, still getting raids.

Credit where it’s due: four somewhat rough years in, the support hasn’t stopped, and it’s landing during the franchise’s 30th anniversary celebrations. This year alone has piled on a stack of Tera Raid battles where you fight strong Pokémon and, if you win, stuff them into a box that keeps getting fuller.

The Winds and Waves era is coming and these raids will likely thin out as Game Freak turns its attention there. But that’s a problem for later. Right now there’s a Dark Tera-type Kingambit waiting, and by September 3 it’s not waiting anymore.
