In Brief:
- Upland (official site) said it has met its target of speeding up approvals for user-generated content, with all submitted assets now caught up to Sept. 1.
- The studio has released 1,501 UGC assets since June, and more than half of them are map assets.
- Upland said it aims to make approvals even faster, after promising more UGC system improvements in 2026.
Upland has worked through its backlog of user-generated content submissions. Every asset submitted up to Sept. 1 has now been reviewed, the studio said in a post on X.
“We’ve hit our target of speeding up approvals for UGC assets, with all assets caught up to Sept 1st!” Upland said.
UGC Update! We've hit our target of speeding up approvals for UGC assets, with all assets caught up to Sept 1st!
A massive 1501 assets have been released since June, with over half of them being map assets.
The aim is to make things even faster in the future, getting approvals
Upland has released 1,501 assets since June. More than half of them are map assets, the decorative items players place on their virtual properties.
Faster turnaround is the goal
Upland said it aims to cut approval times further. Its post didn’t give a new target turnaround time or a date for one.
For creators, speed matters. Before a submission can earn anything it has to clear review, and backlogs have been a regular complaint in UGC programs that use manual moderation.
The announcement didn’t break down the non-map releases by category. It also didn’t say how many submissions were rejected or how many are still waiting after the Sept. 1 cutoff.
Part of a longer overhaul
The backlog work follows changes Upland made to the UGC pipeline last year. In its 2025 recap, the studio said it “streamlined user-generated content submissions, accelerating approvals and making it easier for creators to bring their ideas to life.”
That same recap said more improvements to the UGC system would arrive in 2026. And it listed UGC alongside asset management and in-game messaging as core systems the team set out to fix after it launched its own app chain in 2025.
Upland also changed how map assets behave in its marketplace. Reserved map assets were removed from wallet search results. Players can now sell fully decorated properties together as a bundle, which the studio called “an entirely new marketplace dynamic.”
Creator economics
Approvals feed straight into creator income. Every transaction in a Metaventure or Showroom carries a 5% transaction fee, and Upland’s UGC royalty system sends 50% of that fee to the asset’s creator.
The studio previously previewed a UGC Status Check tool so creators could track where their submissions sit in the review queue. When Upland first showed it, the tool was in beta and open only to Kart submissions. The studio said then that it would open to all creators in the future.
By the numbers
Upland’s community already produces assets at volume. The studio counted 355,456 player-created assets in 2025, along with 141,106 newly minted properties.
Players spent 15,414,052,559 UPX across the year, according to the recap. Metaventure sales accounted for 836,982,263 UPX of that activity.
The team also logged 190 announcements in 2025, including 38 developer updates. Upland’s car manufacturing feature, which will let owners create and sell up to eight custom versions of their vehicle each year, is slated for 2026.
