The RTX 5090 isn’t dead. Nvidia said so itself, shutting down rumors that it had stopped making its top graphics card.

The message came from a senior vice president at an event in Taipei. The card stays on the market and shipments will continue, though supply is still limited.

The supply problem is real

Nvidia didn’t pretend everything is fine. The executive said the supply chain is having difficulties and that the company is working to get more product out.

So if you’ve been refreshing retailer pages and coming up empty, that tracks. The card exists. There just aren’t many of them.

What Nvidia didn’t say

The answer left gaps. Nvidia gave no further details on the card’s different versions, and it didn’t say how long the supply limits will last.

That second one is the part buyers care about most, and it’s the part with no answer.

Where the rumors started

Well-known leakers kicked this off. They posted that production of the RTX 5090, along with the RTX 5090 D made for the Chinese market, would stop so the chips could go into professional graphics cards and AI systems.

It was a believable story, given where the money in chips is going these days. Until the Taipei event, Nvidia hadn’t said anything publicly about those reports.

Now it has: the RTX 5090 hasn’t been discontinued, and shipments will keep coming.
