In Brief:
- Azuki brought the studio.azuki website and @studio_azuki account online this week, giving its anime studio a standalone presence, according to crypto commentator Seven.
- Studio Azuki, announced in July 2025 with Tokyo partners COMISMA and Xenotoon, develops and distributes original IP and anime adaptations from a U.S. base.
- The studio already counts Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith’s Westbrook Inc. as a strategic partner, extending Azuki past its NFT origins.
Azuki has quietly stood up a dedicated web presence for its anime studio, bringing the studio.azuki site and the @studio_azuki account online this week.
There was no trailer and no teaser. Seven, a crypto commentator who tracks the project, flagged the rollout as the week’s most important development from Azuki. “one of the most important signals from Azuki this week wasn’t a trailer or a teaser,” Seven said. “it was the quiet launch of studio.azuki and the @studio_azuki account.”

What the account formalizes
Studio Azuki is the joint venture Azuki announced July 2, 2025, in Los Angeles alongside COMISMA Inc. and Xenotoon Inc., both based in Tokyo. The U.S.-based studio develops, produces and distributes original IP and anime adaptations.
COMISMA, led by CEO KĹŤki SatĹŤ, operates the manga app GANMA! and owns the animation studio Qzil.la. Xenotoon, led by CEO Koichi Kawase, brings a 2D/3D production pipeline and a creator network that has worked with indie animators, including those behind Yasuda Gensho.
The studio sits under what Azuki calls its “Anime 2.0” vision, its pitch for making anime with fans rather than only for them. Earlier pieces of that push include the Enter The Garden (official site) anthology, Anime.com and Azuki’s early role in the Animecoin Foundation.
Hollywood backing
The studio also has a Hollywood partner. Westbrook Inc., founded by Jada Pinkett Smith, Will Smith, Miguel Melendez and Ko Yada, signed a strategic partnership with Studio Azuki that pairs the studio’s production with Westbrook’s distribution reach.
“At Westbrook, our mission has always been to tell stories that connect, inspire, and transcend borders,” said Westbrook CEO Ko Yada. “Partnering with Studio Azuki is a powerful step in that direction. Their creative vision and cultural insight align seamlessly with our global strategy.”
Production has started to show. In January, the studio began streaming “Catch of the Day,” a 3DCG mini-short directed by Genshō Yasuda.
Seven framed the low-key debut as deliberate. “on the surface it’s just a new website and a profile for their studio,” Seven said. “strategically, it represents something much bigger.”
