Castle of Blackwater is an online social deduction game, in the same family as Among Us and Werewolf, set in a gothic castle. Up to ten players are trapped together, given tasks to complete and split into factions, and only one side can win. Its tagline, It Pays To Betray, sums up the pitch.
The three-faction design is what sets it apart. Protectors finish tasks and hunt the traitors, the Satanic faction tries to eliminate them without being caught, and the Forgotten chase goals of their own. That third side breaks the usual innocent-versus-impostor split: someone telling the truth about not being Satanic can still be lying about everything else, so alliances cross faction lines and discussions stay unpredictable.
It launched on Steam in March 2025, went free-to-play on July 23, 2025 and is played through Steam. The crypto side is the COBE token, which the official site lists with links to the exchanges that trade it. The main risk is the one every lobby game faces: rounds need enough players to fill the castle.
It suits groups of friends, streamers and anyone who enjoys bluffing and accusation games. Players who want a solo or combat-focused game should look elsewhere.
