Lucia is on a dance floor somewhere in Vice City. If she’s going hard, she sweats more. If she’s just swaying, she sweats less. Somebody at Rockstar Games wrote code to make that happen.
That’s the latest detail to come out of GTA 6’s development, and it’s about as Rockstar as it gets. According to Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier, the studio built a separate scripted system whose only job is deciding how much its characters sweat, based on what they’re doing and how hard they’re doing it.

Where this comes from
This isn’t a leak or a datamine. Schreier visited Rockstar North and talked to developers about how the game is being made. He described the sweat system in a video that went with his longer report.
The examples he gave are simple. Lucia dancing hard in a nightclub sweats more than Lucia dancing casually. When Jason works out, the amount of sweat on his body changes with how intense the exercise is.
And it isn’t a canned effect that switches on at random. From Schreier’s description, Rockstar wanted sweat tied to each of the characters’ different activities so their reactions look more natural.
The part nobody has answered yet
Here’s the open question: it hasn’t been made clear whether this is purely cosmetic or whether it’ll affect gameplay in any way. So for now, assume it’s something you’ll notice only if you go looking (and most players probably never will).
It does fit with what’s already been reported about the game. Players will reportedly be able to train Jason and Lucia and change their physiques, a more advanced take on the body system from GTA: San Andreas. If you’re sending your characters to the gym, it makes sense that they’d come out sweaty.
Rockstar went to Miami’s clubs, too
Getting Vice City right took legwork. Rockstar did extensive research in the real Miami. Developers went to different parts of the city, watched how people there go about their day and studied details as small as nightclub lighting so the game would feel as convincing as possible.
That goes some way toward explaining why GTA 6 has taken so long to make. Any studio can put a club in a game. Rockstar sent people to check how the light hits the dance floor, then made sure Lucia’s sweat matches how hard she’s dancing under it.
GTA 6 is currently scheduled to release Nov. 19, 2026, on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. When it arrives, somebody will spend 20 minutes on a Vice City dance floor just to see how damp Lucia gets.
