Beginner guide

Tokens, ships, slots and which tool to use first.

No login

A starting point for Star Atlas, built only from public data. It explains the two tokens, how the ship catalogue is organised, and which tool answers which question.

1. The two tokens

Star Atlas has two tokens on Solana. ATLAS is the in-game currency: in the public catalogue, 49 items list ATLAS as their exclusive currency. POLIS is the token of the Star Atlas DAO, the governance token.

Their supplies are very different. We read the total on-chain supply on 30 October 2026: about 36.0 billion ATLAS and about 360 million POLIS. Each trades at a very different price, so compare them with the converter and watch both on the price tracker.

2. How ships are organised

The catalogue lists 63 ships. Each has a size class (from xx-small to titan), a rarity (common up to anomaly), a role such as fighter, freighter, miner or racer, and a maker such as Pearce, Fimbul or Calico.

Browse them all in the ship database and see which classes hold the most ships on the catalogue stats page.

3. What slots tell you

Every ship lists crew seats (Pilot, Navigator, Science Officer and so on), component slots (such as Power Core, Warp Drive, Shield Generator, Mining Rig) and module slots (Fuel). They show what a ship is built to carry. The catalogue does not give numbers for health, speed or damage, so a slot count is not a measure of power.

Use the slot finder to see which ships carry a given slot, and the ship comparison to lay two or three side by side.

4. Prices you will see

The launch price on each ship is the USDC price recorded for the original sale. It is not what a ship costs on a marketplace today. Many items, such as resources and ship parts, were never sold for money and show no price.

Put several ships together in the fleet planner to total their crew, slots and launch prices.

5. What these tools do not cover

They do not show live Galactic Marketplace listings, crafting recipes or combat stats, because we found no public source for them that we could verify. They never ask for a wallet. For the rules of the game, use the official Star Atlas documents; for our opinion of the game, read the Star Atlas review.

How it works

This guide stays inside what the public catalogue and token data show, as read on 30 October 2026. It does not teach game mechanics, which change often; for those use the official Star Atlas documents.

Frequently asked questions

Is Star Atlas free to start?

We cannot tell from public data what the current entry requirements are. Check the official Star Atlas site before you buy anything.

Which blockchain does it use?

Solana. The ATLAS and POLIS token mints are Solana tokens, and the tools here read them from Solana data sources.

Where do I start with these tools?

Open the ship database to see what exists, compare two ships you like, then use the fleet planner to add them up. Use the price tracker to see what the tokens cost.
