YGG Play to shut down amid market challenges
Yield Guild Games (YGG) will close its YGG Play platform, which has generated over $9 million in lifetime revenue. Launched in May 2025 with the casual game LOL Land, YGG Play evolved into a publishing and token launch platform hosting titles like Waifu Sweeper, Gigachadbat, and Ragnarok Breaker.
The platform will cease operations on July 31, 2026, affecting LOL Land and Waifu Sweeper, while Gigachadbat and Ragnarok Breaker will remain with their developers. YGG co-founder Gabby Dizon pointed out that although revenue appeared strong, it peaked in October 2025. The crypto liquidation event on October 10 was a turning point that negatively impacted market confidence and liquidity, crucial for attracting YGG Play’s target audience.
YGG cited unsustainable market conditions as the reason for the shutdown, resulting in the loss of 35 jobs. Despite this, the organization maintains a treasury of over $20 million, including $6 million in stablecoins and other assets, ensuring a four-year operating runway.
“Sunsetting YGG Play is a heavy decision, but it is a market decision, not a product decision,” Dizon said. He expressed pride in the team’s achievements and reiterated YGG’s commitment to creating economic opportunities globally.
Looking ahead, YGG plans to expand its focus on B2B opportunities involving gaming datasets for AI companies, aiming to support solutions for the next generation of world models. Its YGG Alerts initiative, which received 27,000 applications in its first five days, will be rebranded to AI Alerts, connecting users to remote AI training jobs and assisting businesses in implementing AI technologies.
