What is Otherside?

Otherside blends the mechanics of massively multiplayer online role-playing games with web3-enabled virtual worlds into a format its makers call a metaRPG — a world the players own, with real currencies, where thousands can play together at once. It is the Yuga Labs virtual world tied to the Otherdeed land NFTs. ⚠️ The site is gated: you must be signed in to enter, so there is no open demo to look at from outside.

How to play Otherside

Access runs through an Otherdeed, which functions as both a plot of land and a key — holders take part in early-stage builds, demo gameplay and feature testing, and can build their own experiences and content on their land. Otherdeed holders have been told to expect access to their land in preparation for the resource system coming online in 2026. On the character side, Otherside is deliberately interoperable: holders of Bored Ape Yacht Club, Mutant Ape Yacht Club, Meebits and Moonbirds are supplied with Otherside-ready 3D models of their avatars, and everyone else can import or create their own through the ODK. The technical claim behind it is scale — 10,000+ players interacting simultaneously in one place, with natural voice chat that works in crowds of thousands.

Otherside tokenomics & earning

The economic centre of Otherside is the Otherdeed itself: land is the asset, the access pass and the thing players build on and collect resources with. A resource system is stated as coming online in 2026, which is the mechanism by which land is meant to produce anything. Beyond that, the emphasis is on ownership and creation — players own the world and the content they build in it — rather than on a per-session payout.
