Ownership of ships and resources sits on-chain, and the marketplace is player-controlled, so prices move because of what other players mine, sell and hoard rather than because a developer set a number.

What works is the seriousness of the economic design. A player-run marketplace inside a persistent universe gives long-term decisions real weight, and the on-chain layer means holdings are genuinely transferable rather than locked to an account. What does not work as well is accessibility: an interface built around fleet management and spreadsheets-in-space asks for patience, and the Solana wallet requirement plus the cost of getting a viable fleet together puts a real barrier in front of newcomers.

It suits players who enjoy strategy, supply chains and market speculation, and who are comfortable with crypto wallets. Anyone hoping to jump straight into cinematic space combat should know that is not what this particular part of Star Atlas is.
