Blends exploration, tactical combat and resource management in one loop
Faction system with alliances, rivalries and large-scale conflicts over planets
Strong multiplayer social layer: trading, alliances, co-op missions and regular events
Collectibles and planets already tradable on Immutable Marketplace and the official PlanetQuest Marketplace
No playable release means gameplay and economy claims remain unverified
Only available on Immutable X, so no cross-chain options
Requires buying NFT collectibles or planets to hold an ownership stake
Faction conflicts and resource grinding may favour large, coordinated groups over solo players
Our verdict on PlanetQuest
PlanetQuest is a sci-fi multiplayer game built around procedurally generated planets, faction politics and NFT collectibles issued on Immutable X. The premise puts humanity among the stars, with players acting as explorers, scientists or warriors chasing artifacts and resources on behalf of whichever faction they join. Four loops are meant to interlock: exploring generated worlds, tactical combat against creatures and rival factions, resource gathering that feeds crafting and base upgrades, and a marketplace where those materials and collectibles change hands.
The most interesting idea here is the faction layer. Rather than treating territory as static, planets and their resources are the objects of large-scale competition between groups, which gives the trading and alliance systems something to actually be about. Team-based combat and shared missions push in the same cooperative direction.
The significant caveat is timing. PlanetQuest is still in development, with playtests only scheduled, so everything above describes intent rather than a shipped game. What does exist today is the collectibles side — planets and items tradeable on the project's own marketplace and on Immutable's. That ordering matters: assets are purchasable before the game they belong to is playable.
It suits people comfortable holding early-stage sci-fi collectibles and following development through Discord. Anyone wanting a finished space MMO should wait for a playtest.
