BPMG Takes Ownership of Cooking Adventure IP
South Korean blockchain firm BPMG has recently announced their acquisition of the Cooking Adventure game IP, marking a significant step in their strategy to integrate blockchain technology with mainstream gaming. The IP comes from game developer Grampus, and with this deal, BPMG will take over full operational control. This move includes transitioning the development and live-operations team from Grampus to BPMG, ensuring continuity in game management and innovation.
Extensive User Base and Future Plans
Cooking Adventure, known domestically in South Korea as My Little Chef, launched via Facebook in 2016 and expanded primarily on mobile platforms. The game has since amassed over 33 million downloads and has maintained high popularity rankings in multiple regions including Japan and Taiwan. Regarding the new acquisition, BPMG’s CEO Ji-hoon Cha stated, “Securing a globally proven game IP along with an outstanding development team is particularly meaningful. We plan to expand into new platforms and create sustainable growth opportunities.”
Implementation of Web3 and Expansion to New Platforms
As BPMG takes the reins of Cooking Adventure, the company is poised to extend the brand’s reach by launching a PC version on Steam as well as developing an HTML5 browser-based version for instant play. These expansions aim to make the game accessible to a broader audience through diverse platforms.
In addition to broadening platform access, BPMG intends to enhance the game’s features by integrating web3 elements. This advancement will be done through its GemHUB ecosystem with hopes to optimize player retention, engagement, and monetization. Prior to this venture into blockchain-enhanced gaming, BPMG already held experience with web2 games such as TalesRunners, EOS RED, and EOS BLACK through its Blomics subsidiary. These projects laid the groundwork for BPMG’s venture into blending traditional gaming mechanisms with modern blockchain technology in Cooking Adventure.
