Portal Gaming declared a fresh start on April 18. The project, which merged with BLIFE Protocol in late 2025, has relaunched as Portal 2.0 with new leadership, a new strategy and a single focus: AI-native tools built for game developers and indie creators.
Benjamin Charbit heads the new team. Charbit previously served as a director at Ubisoft, where he led Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. Animoca Brands is backing the relaunch.
What Portal 2.0 is building
The platform is centered on AI-powered creation workflows designed to compress the path from concept to playable game. The toolset includes agent orchestration, where AI agents handle different parts of the development pipeline; asset generation for producing game art and components; and rapid prototyping to get builds running quickly.
The pitch is aimed squarely at lowering the barrier to entry. Portal 2.0 offers no-to-low-code workflows and what the team describes as prompt-to-game pipelines, meaning creators can describe what they want and the AI handles much of the assembly.
Existing portfolio
Portal isn’t starting from zero in terms of ecosystem connections. The platform’s active portfolio already includes Anichess, The Sandbox and Cross The Ages.
A full pivot
The relaunch represents a complete strategic shift. Portal previously operated as a gaming-focused crypto platform. The 2.0 version drops that framing entirely in favor of positioning itself as an AI creation layer for the games industry. Whether the existing $PORTAL token community follows the project into this new direction remains to be seen.
