Ubisoft relaunches classic franchise in crypto gaming
Ubisoft has reintroduced its longstanding “Might and Magic” franchise through “Might and Magic Fates,” a trading card game on Immutable. The title offers free-to-play access on iOS, Android, and Steam Early Access. Players engage in tactical duels using card factions and can tokenize their decks on Immutable for trade.
Meanwhile, “Illuvium” claims the spotlight as a franchise with four interconnected games on Immutable zkEVM. This free-to-play series includes an auto-battler, an RPG, a city-builder, and a collectible avatar system. A new Deathmatch mode, launched June 4, raises the stakes significantly.
Indie games making waves
“Exaverse,” still in closed beta on iOS and Android, features a roguelike dungeon crawler where players control evolved dinosaurs. The game supports offline play with simple controls and an internal economy that may soon feature tradable assets.
“ChainersGame” from 51 Games Sagl offers a voxel-style MMO with over one million players. Featuring several gameplay modes from farming to PvP shooters, it utilizes a digital asset economy allowing players to optimize resource use across its various games.
Continuing blockchain integration
“Gods Unchained (official site),” the foundational game for Immutable, offers players a competitive card experience with over 1,800 cards and a new expansion, “Waking Plague,” released June 16. A mobile version is also in soft launch.
As blockchain gaming continues to evolve, these titles reflect both nostalgia for traditional gaming and the integration of new technology. Ubisoft’s approach is particularly telling as it merges well-established franchises with the crypto ecosystem.
