FC Barcelona’s Barça Mobile has announced a collaboration with Wirex, Crossmint, and the Stellar Development Foundation to embed a digital wallet directly into its app. The partnership, revealed on August 5, 2026, enhances the existing telecom service by incorporating payment functionalities without launching a separate product.

Each partner plays a specific role. New Era Visionary Group, the telecom operator behind Barça Mobile, coordinates the initiative. Wirex provides the payment infrastructure, Crossmint supplies the wallet technology, and the Stellar Development Foundation offers a blockchain network for cost-effective transactions.

Wallet features and functionality

The wallet is designed to meet the needs of subscribers. It manages mobile services, processes payments, links card spending, and tracks loyalty rewards. Upcoming features include travel services and cross-border digital utilities.

Wirex’s association with Visa and Mastercard enables users to spend balances at over 80 million merchants globally. This means that transactions settle on a blockchain layer while purchases process through standard card networks.

Ruslan Bîrlădeanu, CEO of New Era Visionary Group, emphasized the choice to integrate wallet functionality into the existing app. “By integrating wallet functionality directly into the Barça Mobile app, we are not launching a separate product,” he said.

Notably, users aren’t required to purchase fan tokens or link external wallets. Instead, they gain access to faster payment solutions within an app they are already familiar with, setting this offering apart from typical sports crypto products.

Launched in April 2025, Barça Mobile operates as a mobile virtual network operator utilizing Orange’s infrastructure. Its travel eSIM capability covers over 170 countries, making international transfers a logical extension of its services.
