BitRobot is taking applications for Access IDs, the credential that gates participation in its Open Robotics Lab.
“The Open Robotics Lab is live. Apply now for your Access ID,” the network said in its announcement. Applications go through app.bitrobot.ai.

What the credential does
BitRobot listed three ways holders build standing: contributing robotics work, participating in special subnet campaigns and referring new users. Each earns Bolts and unlocks Badges, which the network frames as leveling up a contributor’s credentials.
Bolts are BitRobot’s unit of contribution, the accounting layer for work done inside subnets. Badges sit on top as collectible markers of that activity.
The Access ID formalizes something BitRobot has been running piecemeal for a year. Its Ambassador Program already handed out privileged lab access, cash bounties, referral earnings and priority access to new subnets and robotic experiments. A separate waitlist has been open since January 2026 for TeleArms, the teleoperation platform for robotic arms that runs LeKiwi and XLeRobot hardware from Sig Robotics.
The subnets behind it
BitRobot organizes contributors into subnets, each producing a different output for embodied AI research: datasets, robot fleets, compute. Every contribution runs through what the network calls Verifiable Robotic Work, a system for confirming a task added measurable value before rewards are paid onchain.
ET Fugi, designated SN/01, went live in August 2025 as the first operating subnet. Participants drive sidewalk robots through real streets, generating navigation data from curbs, obstacles and pedestrian traffic. Thousands of contributors logged more than 10,000 hours of driving, producing what BitRobot says is the largest open-source sidewalk navigation dataset.
SeeSaw, or SN/05, launched Oct. 23 with Virtuals Protocol. Users record everyday household tasks on an iPhone, tying shoelaces or folding clothes, and upload the clips as robot training data. It cleared 1 million completed tasks in its first month. BitRobot’s site now puts the figure above 4.5 million.
TeleArms remains in private beta. The network reports more than 50,000 teleoperation missions and over 1,400 hours of teleoperation in simulation.
The BitRobot Foundation also runs a $5 million Grand Challenges fund, announced in September 2025, with up to $1 million per category. The three categories are Earth Rover navigation, robotic origami and IKEA furniture assembly. Researchers from Google DeepMind, Spirit AI and Princeton co-organize them.
Still no token
BitRobot hasn’t launched a token. Its whitepaper outlines a model built on subnet emissions and ENTs, NFT-based identifiers for robots, but supply, allocation and vesting aren’t finalized. There’s no confirmed airdrop and no announced conversion path from Bolts or Badges to anything else.
That leaves the Access ID as a reputation instrument for now, and nothing more than that.
Background
FrodoBots Lab, started as a weekend project by brothers Michael and Sam Cho to gamify robotics data collection, raised $6 million in a seed round on Feb. 14, 2025, bringing total funding to $8 million. Protocol VC led. Big Brain Holdings, Fabric Ventures, Zee Prime Capital, Tioga Capital, Sfermion, Solana Ventures and Virtuals Protocol participated, alongside angels including Solana Labs co-founders Anatoly Yakovenko and Raj Gokal.
Protocol Labs co-developed the network. FrodoBots itself became a subnet.
“We envision each subnet to be a standalone robotic competition. For example, Subnet 1 could be a DePIN-anchored robotic gaming contest meant for collecting real-world urban navigation data with sidewalk robots, while Subnet 2 could be an ongoing contest among researchers to build ever-improving autonomous navigation models,” said Michael Cho, co-founder of FrodoBots Lab, when the round was announced.
Cho took that argument to the robotics establishment last year. Opening his keynote at the 2025 Conference on Robot Learning in Seoul, he told the room: “Crypto will drastically accelerate embodied AI research.”
