In Brief:

  • PlayZap (official site) put a game live on YouTube Playables and said it’s the first Web3 gaming studio to do so.
  • The company hasn’t named the title or said whether it carries PZP mechanics.
  • Playables games ship as self-contained HTML5 builds under 30 MB with no external network calls, which sets the limits on what a crypto title can do inside YouTube.

PlayZap launched a game on YouTube Playables and said it’s the first Web3 gaming studio in the catalog.

The company announced it in a post on X. It didn’t name the game.

“Game #1 of many,” PlayZap said in the post. “This is our on-ramp to the biggest audience in gaming.”

PlayZap put YouTube’s monthly user base at 2.7 billion.

From submission to catalog

The launch follows a July 16 post in which PlayZap said it had “officially submitted our first title” to Playables and added, “We’ll be with you on YouTube soon.” The company gave no launch window then and didn’t identify the game.

Google reviews every submission before it reaches the catalog. Developer access is still early access, and approval can run weeks or months. Studios need Channel Manager permissions in YouTube Studio, have to integrate YouTube’s SDK, and handle testing, certification and live ops themselves. The alternative is publishing through a partner that already holds a verified portal account.

What the format allows

Playables titles run as self-contained HTML5 experiences. Assets ship bundled in a ZIP archive, external network calls aren’t permitted, and initial load size is capped at 30 MB. The format supports web builds from Unity, Godot, Phaser, PlayCanvas, Cocos, Defold and three.js, among others.

But PlayZap hasn’t said whether its title includes token mechanics or arrives as a plain casual game.

About 450 games are live across the entire Playables catalog. Publishers see total daily revenue across their portfolio on a 48-hour delay, and YouTube issues a preliminary per-game breakdown for the prior month on the 15th.

YouTube expanded Playables analytics in mid-July to include player age brackets running from 13-17 through 65 and older. Before that, publishers got one metric per game: total plays across seven-day, 28-day and all-time windows. Multiplayer support is opening up gradually, with more detail expected in the second half of 2026.

The platform behind it

PlayZap runs skill-based tournaments on Polygon and pays out in PZP. Its lineup covers solitaire, 8 ball pool, 21 cards and match master among more than 10 competitive games, in daily leagues, group formats and head-to-head PvP. Players pick up additional PZP through daily bonuses, missions and leaderboards.

The company claims more than 2 million players, 1.7 million app downloads, 20 games launched and an AI gaming agent called Zen.

Abhishek Buchvani, founder and CEO, started PlayZap in July 2021. The company raised $4.09 million in a round that closed in April 2023, after a 2022 seed round led by KuCoin Labs. Arcanum Capital, BlackDragon, CoinSwitch Ventures and Criterion VC are among its backers. PlayZap has also run a $1 million grant program to pull developers onto the platform.

Token at a low

PZP has been sliding through the year. The token set an all-time low of $0.0009050 on Aug. 5, leaving it down roughly 91% over 12 months and about 34% in the past month. Its all-time high was $0.6023, reached Nov. 12, 2023.

PlayZap also migrated PZP from its old contract to a new one, which it announced on its X account. Circulating supply sits near 38.94 million of a 150 million maximum, and the token trades on KuCoin and Gate.

Twenty-four-hour volume runs about $55,000.
