A little over $250,000 moved across the blockchain in one night, and with it, the stream of leaked Grand Theft Auto 6 gameplay clips may have dried up.

That’s the read from a new report on the group behind the leaks, which has reportedly cashed out the meme coin it spent the past week promoting. If the money’s gone, the theory goes, so is the reason to keep posting footage.

Where the money went

The update comes from GTA Forums user Vit Cit, who has been actively investigating the mysterious group behind the recent GTA 6 leaks. According to Vit Cit, the account responsible for leaking multiple Grand Theft Auto 6 gameplay clips online has reportedly cashed out the cryptocurrency it had been pushing alongside them.

“I’m going to post a more detailed post later but after digging through the transactions roughly $268K was withdrawn from the transaction fees for $CYBERLEEK. The money was then divided up between 4 transactions and sent to various wallets that ultimately ended up in three different places,” Vit Cit said.

Four transactions. Three destinations. It’s the kind of trail that tends to mean somebody is closing up shop.

Why one forum sleuth thinks it’s over

Vit Cit went on to explain why he believes the GTA 6 leaks might be done for now.

“CyberLeek moved over $250,000 across the blockchain tonight so here we are. I expect this to be the final part to this investigation as it seems CyberLeek may be done and has decided to cash out and let their meme coin free fall,” he said.

Worth being clear about what this is: an independent investigation posted to a fan forum, not a confirmation from anyone involved. Nothing here has been verified by Rockstar Games or Take-Two.

Nobody has actually said they’re stopping

At the time of writing, the group behind the GTA 6 leaks hasn’t released a statement or confirmed that it will stop posting gameplay videos. The silence is doing a lot of the talking.

But plenty of users believe the leaks could be over now that the meme coin promoted alongside the footage is reportedly being cashed out and bleeding in value. A coin in free fall isn’t much of a payday, and a payday was allegedly never the stated point.

The protest that may not have been a protest

Here’s where it gets interesting. This development has kicked off a bigger argument about why the leaks happened at all.

Initially, the group leaking the GTA 6 gameplay footage claimed it was a protest against Rockstar Games potentially abandoning physical disc support. The account said it would stop leaking videos if Rockstar apologized and confirmed the game would receive a physical release.

Rockstar never did either of those things, as far as anyone has shown publicly.

The skeptics had a simpler theory

Some users never bought the disc-preservation framing and figured the leaks were always about promoting the meme coin and making money. The reported cash-out doesn’t prove them right, but it doesn’t exactly complicate their case either.

Whatever the motivation, the flow of leaked Grand Theft Auto 6 gameplay footage might have finally come to an end. Whether the group resurfaces is anyone’s guess.

For now, what’s on the record is this: GTA Forums users are reporting that the account behind the leaks has cashed out its meme coin earnings, and the videos have stopped coming.
