What’s already shipping
Uppie property assignment is live. Players assign an eligible Uppie to a property and the Uppie handles plant petting from then on, walking the property and watering the plants.
Only Level 3 and higher Uppies qualify. Level doesn’t scale the benefit: Upland said a Level 8 Uppie will not provide better plant care than a Level 3 Uppie.
An assigned Uppie is locked out of merging, sale and swap while it stays on the job. If the property itself is sold or swapped, the Uppie stays with the original owner.
Feeding remains manual. Uppies also won’t collect troves, which still requires players to travel the map themselves.
Assignment sits under Manage on the property card, next to Sell, Build and Arrange. Players can confirm placements through the Uppies tab in the Asset Wallet or the Uppie indicator in the top right corner of a property card.
Plants that are already unwell don’t snap back. Upland said wellness recovers gradually as they’re fed and cared for, and that plants may still take random damage.
The 3D property push
Upland told players during Genesis Week 2026 that properties would come to life on the map in 3D, with both animals and Uppies animated on them. The company said players would be able to enhance an Uppie so their own resident displays on a property instead of a generic one.
Genesis Week 2026 ran under the theme “Full Speed Ahead” and carried nine announcements. Upland launched an alpha version of Troves during the event, with troves exchangeable for animal genomes, Uppies and Sparklet.
The same stretch brought a rebrand. Upland now bills itself as a forever real-world city-builder game and calls its players architects.
How Uppies got here
Uppies arrived in 2025 as Upland’s digital residents, split between everyday citizens such as families, professionals, shop owners and artists, and rarer Iconic Uppies with their own designs and stories. Befriending one costs UPX, and a portion of that goes to the owner of the property where the Uppie was living.
Resident Scores went live in November 2025. Profiles gained two stats, Total Uppies and Influence Score, with breakdowns by city and neighborhood. Influence Score rises mainly through building service structures.
Upland retired the old Neighborhood Scores and leaderboards at the same time and stood up the Upland Census, a site dedicated to residents data.
Uppiepedia followed in January 2026 as a real-time log of every Uppie, tracking which have been discovered or collected and which have been merged out of existence. Most of the initial UORIGIN batch was visible at launch. The Iconic Parody Uppies from that generation were held back for a separate announcement.
Uppies carry traits and a level from 1 to 10, with more traits meaning a higher level. Iconic Uppies sit at a star level above the top tier. Two Uppies of the same level can be combined into a higher-level resident, and seasonal burn events mark points in the evolution cycle.
Upland has also said Level 5 and higher Uppies will be able to level up service and office structures by being employed in them.
Background
Uplandme Inc. was founded in 2018 by Dirk Lueth, Mani Honigstein and Idan Zuckerman. Property NFTs and UPX are registered on EOS.
The company raised a $2 million seed in 2019 from FinLab EOS VC Fund and angel investors. In October 2023 it closed a $7 million Series A extension led by EOS Network Ventures, which put in $1.5 million, with returning investors C3 Venture Capital and Animoca Brands. That round funded making Spark tradable on Ethereum as Sparklet, which converts to Spark at 1/1000.
Upland has run this playbook before. When it previewed the Uppies map layer, the team said the images shared weren’t final and could change before release.
