The Mutant Cartel universe now has a game on Soneium. The Mutant Hounds IP arrives on the Sony-backed layer 2 through Hound, a racing title built on Superstake, Soneium said. Players pick a hound and enter a race.
“Pick your hound, hit the track, and jump into the game,” Soneium said in the post announcing the launch.

Playing stacks up to 100 STAR Points toward Summer Fiesta, Startale’s batch of Mini App campaigns. Each campaign in that batch is worth up to 170 STAR Points. It began Aug. 13 and runs through September.
A recap of Startale’s 23rd community call listed the title as Hound Racing among the September additions to Summer Fiesta, alongside LasMeta and Squadletics, with a PlayStation 5 among the rewards.
STAR Points are Startale’s activity ledger inside the Startale App. Users earn them by minting or holding USDSC, completing in-app tasks and interacting with dapps. Startale has said the points will factor into eligibility for a future airdrop. No token has launched.
Superstake’s NFT playbook
Superstake runs risk games across several chains, including Soneium and ApeChain. The format doesn’t change much from title to title: play with ETH, provably fair, cash out anytime to lock in winnings or keep going for a bigger multiplier.
Hound follows Cool Cats Claw Machine and Lazy Penalty, the Lazy Lions game where the player picks one of five corners and the keeper covers the same five.
Lazy Lions reported more than $50,000 in volume in under a week on the penalty game with Startale and Superstake. That run came with a campaign giving away two Lazy Lions NFTs, more than $1,500 in prizes and bonus STAR rewards.
Who’s behind the chain
Soneium is an OP Stack rollup from Sony Block Solutions Labs, the joint venture between Sony Group Corporation and Startale Group. It was introduced in August 2024 and went to mainnet in January after a four-month test period that drew more than 14 million users and processed 50 million transactions. Block times are two seconds.
Startale has raised $70 million. Its backers include Sony Innovation Fund, SBI Holdings, Samsung Next and UOB Venture. The company also issues Startale USD, or USDSC, which it wants to serve as the default dollar for payments and rewards across the network.
The hounds
Mutant Hounds is a deflationary 10,000-piece collection from Novel Labs, the first characters in Mutant Cartel World. The Cartel is an independent narrative universe built to extend Yuga Labs’ MAYC ecosystem without being part of Yuga. The mint ran in two parts, with 10,000 Mutant Hound Collars burned to produce the hounds.
It sold out before public sale in December 2022 and generated more than 20,000 ETH, roughly $40 million, in secondary sales in the first half of 2023.
The collection’s current chapter is Fusion. Holders burn hounds for one of four materials: Hound Organs, Bottled Soul, Hacked DNA and Dark Serum. Each is capped at 1,250, for 5,000 total, plus a maximum of 328 VIP materials reserved for VIP Mutant Cartel Oath holders. Combining a material with a MAYC, a BAYC or an Oath produces an unrevealed Fused Hound.
Novel Labs also built Serum City with Faraway, a city builder running on ApeCoin and the first game outside Yuga to use the token.
Superstake describes itself on its own site in four words: “The Roblox of Tokens.”
