Four new promo cards just gave you a reason to clear your weekend on Oct. 24.
That’s when Pokémon-approved game stores start running prerelease events for Pokémon Trading Card Game: Mega Evolution – Delta Reign, and each Build & Battle Box handed out at those events comes with a shot at one of four newly revealed promos. The full expansion doesn’t hit shelves until Nov. 6, 2026, so the prerelease is your first chance to get these cards in hand.
One promo per box, so bring something to trade
Each box holds only one of the four promos. If you pull the wrong one, you’ve got options: you’re standing in a room full of people who might have the card you want, so start trading.
All four are new alternate art versions of cards from the Delta Reign set. Each one also shows off an ability you can build a strategy around, like Masquerain’s “Bug Out” attack.
Prerelease rules work differently
Don’t show up expecting your usual setup. The prerelease format comes with a few new rules, the biggest being that you have to play with a 40-card deck from the Build & Battle Box.
That’s the part that makes these events good for bringing in a new player. Rounds are shorter, so sessions move quickly. And nobody gets to roll in with a perfectly tuned deck they’ve spent months refining. Everyone starts from the same place.
To find an event, ask your local game store whether it’s taking part, or check the official Event Locator from The Pokémon Company.
Mega Rayquaza ex leads the set
Delta Reign is the sixth main set in the Pokémon TCG: Mega Evolution series, and Mega Rayquaza ex is the headliner. Some of the cards already showed up in Japan, in the Japanese set Storm Emeralda and the 2026 Japanese ex Starter Sets.
The cards everyone wants are the two matching Legendary Stadium cards, which fit together to make one image. Here’s some good news for your wallet: any Delta Reign booster pack with a Legendary Stadium includes both halves. That should stop prices for the pair from shooting up.
Can’t make it in person?
You’ll still be able to get the boxes. Build & Battle Boxes go on sale after Delta Reign launches on Nov. 6, 2026.
Until then, October usually brings the Pokémon TCG’s Halloween-themed cards and merchandise to fill the gap. Then it’s Rayquaza season.
