Steam page updated

The game’s Steam page lists the release date as “Coming soon,” with a note that Early Access begins Oct. 22. ChainVision Games is listed as developer and publisher.

Steam is one of two ways in. The official site says the Steam build is “100% playable. No wallet needed” and free to play. It’s a Web2 client with no blockchain or NFT requirements.

The other route is the Katana Inu Launcher, which handles NFT ownership and play-to-earn features tied to the $KATA token. On the launcher, those features are optional.

What’s in the game

Katana Inu is a free-to-play, third-person PvP action game built around sword combat in an anime-inspired setting. It has four modes: 1v1 duels, 3v3 team battles, free-for-all and battle royale.

The Steam listing promotes high-mobility combat with double jumps and grappling hooks, plus character and weapon classes that each have their own abilities. It also says the game isn’t pay-to-win.

On PC, the minimum spec is Windows 10 64-bit, an Intel i5 4th gen or AMD FX 6300, 8GB of RAM, a GTX 1050 Ti and 38GB of storage.

A long testing cycle

Early access comes after more than a year of public tests. ChainVision opened a beta to all PC users on June 30, 2025, with no registration, payment or token ownership required.

That beta launched with five playable characters, one map and game modes that rotated weekly. Players could log in as guests or connect wallets through MetaMask or WalletConnect. A wallet was needed only for NFT minting and marketplace access.

A public test of the battle royale mode started Jan. 20, 2026. Then came a Steam demo. The Steam page thanks players who joined the demo between April 14 and May 10, 2026. The official site had advertised the demo window as April 11-21.

The token

$KATA runs on Ethereum, BNB Chain and Base. In the game, it’s used for transactions such as minting and upgrading items.

The token launched through an IDO in December 2021. Max supply is 50 billion KATA.

The official site also lists rappers PnB Rock, T-Pain, Desiigner and The Game among the project’s promoters.

The Steam client still has the same 38GB install footprint, and the listing still carries no mention of crypto, NFTs or the $KATA token.
