In Brief:

  • Tavernlight Games said it made balance changes, gameplay improvements and fixes to RavenQuest (official site)’s Fortune’s Frontier mode after the Oct. 11 public stress test, many of them based on player feedback.
  • Season 0 of the seasonal extraction mode is scheduled for Oct. 16 at 8 a.m. PT (3 p.m. UTC), with more than $10,000 in season rewards advertised.
  • Seasons run two weeks and pay out from a performance-based reward pool tied to the $QUEST QUEST $0.0009977 ▼ -5.2% token. Emblems, top Ravencards and cosmetics carry over between seasons.

RavenQuest posted the list of changes it made to Fortune’s Frontier since last weekend’s stress test, two days before Season 0 of the mode goes live.

“Since the Stress Test, we’ve been hard at work on balance changes, gameplay improvements, and fixes, many of them straight from your feedback,” the team said in a post on X.

The studio pointed players to the update notes before launch. “Don’t be caught off guard! Check out everything that’s changed so you know what to expect,” the post said. It didn’t name individual changes.

Launch timing

Season 0 opens Oct. 16 at 8 a.m. PT, or 3 p.m. UTC. Clan Leaderboards open the same day.

Knighter is hosting a launch party on the RavenQuest Twitch channel at 7 a.m. PT, an hour before the servers open, with giveaways for viewers, according to the official account.

The Fortune’s Frontier site advertises “Over $10,000 in Season Rewards.” Pre-registration at ff.ravenquest.io/register came with beta access and early name reservation.

What the stress test covered

Tavernlight opened the mode to all players on Sunday, Oct. 11, at 10 a.m. PT. Players joined through the PTR Launcher with their existing accounts for a session expected to last about two hours.

The studio said the test wasn’t meant as a full preview of the mode. It focused on one system: Map Sharding and Channel Scalability, which splits map regions across multiple channels and raises or lowers capacity based on how many players are in each.

Tavernlight said it wanted to run that tech under heavier player loads, watch how it held up, find bottlenecks and adjust before launch. All stress test progression is wiped before Season 0.

How the mode works

Fortune’s Frontier is an extraction mode for solo players and duos. Solo players get a Lone Wolf buff.

It’s set in the Pirate Isles, around the wreckage of The Dawn of Fortune, whose treasures are scattered across three islands: Sajecho, Harbor and Gilead. Risk climbs from island to island, running from “Safe” zones to “Full-Drop” PvP.

On the official site the tiers are no-PvP, partial-loot PvP and full-loot PvP. Lower-risk islands only cost players their loot if they die. Higher-risk zones can take their gear too, but they offer rarer rewards.

A run comes down to fighting enemies, collecting Treasure Pouches and getting out alive. Loot that makes it out converts into Silver and seasonal rewards.

Players make new characters for the mode, and those characters start at an advanced level. Builds come from Munk Songs, equipment and Trinkets, and an Energy system caps excessive grinding.

Seasons, Emblems and $QUEST

Each season lasts two weeks, with Solo and Clan Leaderboards resetting every cycle. Progress in the mode resets too.

But some items persist. Players keep their top Ravencards and all cosmetics from one season to the next.

Emblems act as boosters. New players can use them for XP and gear boosts from day one, and veterans can put them toward exclusive rewards. Emblems also count toward the next Frontier season.

The season reward pool is tied to the $QUEST ecosystem. Players who move from Fortune’s Frontier into the main game can spend QUEST there, and QUEST activity feeds into the token’s buyback and burn cycles.

Background

Tavernlight announced Fortune’s Frontier on March 25. RavenQuest is a free-to-play sandbox MMORPG on Immutable, available on PC through Epic and Steam with an Android client.

Ahead of the season, the community site RavenGuardian.com released a Fortune’s Frontier Build Planner.

When the mode was announced, Tavernlight CEO Nicolas Schrik framed it as a fix for a common MMO problem.

“Fortune’s Frontier is our answer to the ‘progression wall’ often found in MMOs. By creating a seasonal, skill-based environment, we’ve built a perfect entry point for the millions of players to join us, while giving our veterans a high-stakes challenge where every decision matters,” Schrik said.
