In Brief:

  • Elixir Games has relaunched elixir.games after what its X account called “over a year of silence.”
  • The new site lets users make games with AI, play them in a browser and “earn a share of the ones that graduate.” For now it runs only on Solana’s test network with play money.
  • The team is betting that the next wave of (meme)coins will be games people play on X, not just tokens they trade.

Elixir Games has relaunched elixir.games, and the product on it now is a browser arcade where AI-built games can turn into tradable coins.

The @Elixir_Games account announced the move on X. “(Re)launching https://elixir.games,” the post said. “Over a year of silence. No announcements. No hype. Just building.”

(Re)launching https://elixir.games
Over a year of silence. No announcements. No hype. Just building.
Our bet: the next generation of (meme)coins won’t just be something you trade, but games you play here, on X.

The same post set out the thesis. “Our bet: the next generation of (meme)coins won’t just be something you trade, but games you play here, on X,” @Elixir_Games said.

What’s live

The site’s tagline reads: “Play new games early, and you can earn a share of the ones that graduate.” Users make games with AI, play them in the browser and launch them when they’re ready, according to the site.

None of it involves real money yet. The site says it is “a test version” that “runs on Solana’s test network with test money that has no real value.” A banner reads “Running on Devnet: play money, not real funds.”

The site also says “Seasons, scores and airdrops here are rehearsals.” It doesn’t give a mainnet date, a token launch or an airdrop schedule.

Elixir lists a Mac app for building games and a creator monetization program. There’s also a scoring system, an Arena section for active play and portfolio tracking.

Early traction

The catalog is small and mostly user-made. When the site was checked on Nov. 7, the week’s top title was Tintide with 14 plays. Pokegame had six, Candlespire had four, and Mint Street and Whale Cove had two each.

The site doesn’t explain what a game must reach to “graduate” or how the share of a graduated game is split among early players. It doesn’t say whether the ELIX token has any role in the new product.

A change of direction

The relaunch moves Elixir away from the product it was built on. The company ran a PC game launcher that distributed web3 titles across several chains, and it published games as well.

Its last big funding news came on March 27, 2024. That day the Barcelona-based company announced a $14 million seed round with Square Enix, Solana Foundation, Shima Capital and other private backers.

At the time, the Launcher hosted more than 130 games and had passed 500,000 registered unique users, the company said. The release billed the ELIX token as a way to “safely simplify the web3 user experience via a game platform, marketplace, and launchpad.”

“This achievement reflects our commitment to innovation, unity, and excellence in web3 gaming,” said Carlos Roldan, named as CEO of Elixir Games in that March 2024 release. The new X post doesn’t name him or any other team member.

The 2024 roadmap promised the ELIX release, a launchpad and incubation program and a five-tier Season Pass with exclusive initial game offering access. A year and a half of quiet followed, by the account’s own count, before the relaunch post.

For now, the new site carries a plain warning to anyone looking for upside: “Running on Devnet: play money, not real funds.”
