That shelter is Silo 40. And according to reports, it’s the reason Apple TV+ is looking at a second series set in the same universe.
Nothing’s official. The company hasn’t announced a thing. But the rumor has enough shape to it that fans of the show should probably start paying attention.

Reports suggest Apple TV+ is considering a new series set in the Silo universe. The rumored timeline puts the project in pre-production by 2027, which lines up with the end of the main show after its fourth season.
That’s the part worth sitting with. Silo isn’t being extended. It’s being succeeded.
The source material doesn’t exist yet
Here’s where it gets interesting. The potential spinoff could be based on a new literary trilogy by Howey, per the same leaks.
The upcoming work will focus on Silo 40 and cover a vast timeline, running from events before the first book, Wool, all the way to the era after the end of Dust.
So we’re talking prequel and sequel territory in the same package. Bookends around a story the show hasn’t even finished telling on screen.
Why Silo 40 is the one they’d pick
In the books, Silo 40 is an isolated underground shelter that discovered the truth about the system. Then it rebelled against Silo 1.
And it won, in the only way that counts down there. Silo 40 severed the connection between itself and Silo 1, which meant avoiding the Safeguard process entirely.
If you’ve watched the show, you know what Safeguard implies and why escaping it matters. A silo that got out from under the boot is a different kind of story than the one we’ve been watching.
Keep the expectations calibrated
This is a rumor. Pre-production by 2027 is a rumored date, not a scheduled one, and the trilogy it would draw from is still upcoming.
Apple has said nothing.
