Cambria deprecates four NFT collections and integrates utility into RSGP

Cambria merges assets into RSGP

Cambria is consolidating its asset ecosystem into a single token, RSGP, ahead of the upcoming RSGP genesis launch. As part of this effort, the studio is retiring four existing collections, with their utilities transitioning to RSGP. Snapshots for these collections will be taken on August 28, 2026, at 10 AM PT.

The Founder NFT, valued around 1.2 million USD, is being retired, with its utility folding into token holder tiers. The Cores NFT, approximately 400,000 USD, will transition to veRSGP staking. Companions, valued at 20,000 USD, will be incorporated into in-game trading. Arena Tokens will cease to exist, with their function shifting to in-game Shards or exchanged for Keys.

Reasons for the consolidation

Tempest Labs cited fragmented value accrual as a primary concern. Each asset had its own value mechanism, which created competition for utility routes and hindered overall growth. The studio emphasized that discoverability issues across four collections on multiple chains posed further barriers to user engagement.

Development overhead also played a role; maintaining multiple live products on-chain increased complexity, causing updates to lag significantly. This slowed down the ecosystem’s development, diverting resources that could have been used for game enhancement.

Expectations regarding asset performance contributed to the decision as well. Certain assets were designed as scale bets on player growth, which did not materialize as expected, leading to a disconnect in perceived value.

Impact on existing assets

Founders will see their NFTs’ utility transition to RSGP through a two-part allocation in the Genesis Airdrop, supplemented by metrics such as Loyalty Score and First Founder status. Alongside their NFT ownership, Founders will retain all current perks, which include various multipliers and priority benefits.

Cores holders will receive RSGP allocations, with staking functionalities now integrated into the ecosystem. Staked RSGP will facilitate Cosmetic Shard generation and maintain existing functionalities for Companions.

Companions will shift off-chain entirely, with the 27,723 NFTs traded in-game through the Companion Bazaar, making the experience accessible to non-crypto users. Arena Tokens will convert to a unified token economy, with current balances handled similarly to prior conversions.

Cambria’s performance data

The decision follows Cambria’s substantial track record, including over 160 million USD in lifetime onchain game volume and more than 3 million USD in revenue since spring 2023. Gold Rush has been a significant driver for these figures, recording over 1.7 million USD in its third season.

The studio has continuously bolstered player engagement with innovations like Dungeon Fishing, adding avenues for in-game asset acquisition. Cores staking has fostered a separate economy, with notable burns occurring during Burn to Earn events.

Future asset dynamics

Islands NFTs remain unchanged, providing ownership and governance opportunities within the Archipelagos. Meanwhile, Pendants and Charm Cards continue to function, with the latter delivering weekly rewards.

The specifics of the asset allocations will be detailed with the tokenomics prior to the RSGP token generation event set for September 2026, coinciding with the launch of Gold Rush Season 4—touted as the studio’s largest season to date.
